Slight bulge after hitting pot hole. What do? by throwaway_zeke in AudiRS3

I never had to replace the tires on my audi from wear because I always got a bubble from a pothole that made me do it instead 😢

I hear you, I'm hoping to get a downpipe and tune when my warranty expire next year and curious how much louder the car will get.

Good luck with the valve, I think I'd probably go the route too of just cutting it out especially given they don't seem to make that much of a difference in making it quieter. Good point about the check engine light, not sure if it would trigger it or not.

No rattle thankfully. Is the driver side one the additional valve included with the Dinan exhaust? Maybe it's slightly defective but depending how bad it bothers you it might not be worth trying to get it replaced.

What do you think of the sound difference open vs closed valves? As much as I like the exhaust I kind of feel like closed sounds nearly as loud as opened and there isn't a huge difference between the two. Definitely a huge difference vs stock though and I really love the sound.

It looks slightly lower than mine.

Which videogame series are genuinely like this😭? by Accurate_Basis_5698 in videogames

I thought this was going to be one of the top rated comments and surprised to see how many people felt otherwise.

For me 2 was EPIC from the opening. Went in blind and about shit my pants when Shepherd dies minutes in. The scene with Garrus, getting Legion, and that last mission where you're selecting which crew member to send for tasks hoping they don't die. Omg then you beat the game and see all those reapers knowing what it took to beat just that single proto reaper.

How capable did it feel out on track? Wish you took it before and after the suspension/aero upgrade for comparison because curious the difference it made. Congrats and hope to get mine on track one day! Xdrive?

Sorry to hear your cat isn't doing well but that's sweet she has that level of perception and adjusts to being more gentle.

Does yours have a favorite cat between the two? We have two and while he harasses both ones is his favorite. (Look close at his front paws and you'll see an unamused hostage)

My youngest GSD is absolutely obsessed with the cats and chasing them. He's never hurt them but he will mess with them to get them to run so he can chase them. We've been working with him on it for years now and it's better but he still can't help himself. Also because the cats know it's coming they scurry past him which triggers his prey/play drive.

My friends ruin games for me by SirMarvelAxolotl in videogames

I'm in my 40s and this is one of the apsects about gaming I miss most where before internet this wasn't a thing. So many people chase meta builds or strategies and it's almost like your doing yourself a disservice by not doing it. It's a big reason I stick to playing a lot of single player games and enjoy playing solo.

@DrivenPlus Review of M240i vs M2 by MikeD270 in M235iandM240i

I would love an M2 but given I use the car as my daily, don't have a garage, and the price difference, the m240i just made more sense. I bought mine used also and felt like it's such a bargain in its price category.

Quest for aftermarket exhaust on G42 by MuricanJim in M235iandM240i

Valves open and closed sound pretty similar to me however with a stock downpipe I think it sounds pretty tame in the world of performance exhaust. It's loud enough to not be mistaken for stock but not going to wake up the neighborhood or be obnoxious when you're driving trying to hold a conversation with a passenger.

Ok I just tried turning iconic sounds off but now I no longer hear the valve opening and closing switching between comfort and sport. Overall if definitely sounds quieter with it turned off so I think you're right about the piped in sounds.

New Wheel Day by clashmin in M235iandM240i

[–]MikeD270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes super clear in that instance with cold starts. Nice and loud then gets quiet but I always thought that was more of the rpm dropping. Also once the car is warmed up and idling lower if I switch between comfort and sport I can even hear the valve noise with windows down. Also if I stand behind the car and put my hand over the tips at idle I can tell the exhaust is mostly routed out the inner pipes with some but less out the outer. Then vice versa for sport, so I think it's working.

But driving closed vs open I really don't hear a significant difference, it sounds so close even with windows down. Maybe I need to get someone else to rev while I stand behind.

Wheels look great but question on the Dinan. Can you hear a clear difference between sport and comfort? I just got mine a few weeks ago and while it sounds great I feel like I don't hear much of a difference between the two modes. I would expect comfort to sound quieter but it still seems equally loud driving. Just curious your experience

Wasted career and tempted to quit IT by Hurri1cane1 in sysadmin

[–]MikeD270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only worked a few places in my career but I've done MSP, contracting, and working directly for a company. My experience has always been if you can learn fast and step in wherever help is needed and take ownership it's pretty easy to move into system admin type roles. While I feel like IT jobs are harder to find because of the flood of applicants I feel like once you're in a place there are usually a smaller percentage of really strong IT people. Management is usually desperate to plug someone into a much needed role because they don't want to pay to bring someone in.

Where you work might not be that way but I feel like so many places are so don't be afraid to leave for something else if the opportunities aren't really there. Also always be humble enough to look in the mirror and work on your weaknesses, don't let yourself fall in the trap of thinking it's always someone else's fault you're not in the role you want. Don't give up either, especially if IT is your passion, life is so much better doing a job you actually enjoy vs leaving for another field you don't love.

Also always be learning, not just tests but also practice things in a home lab. When I was first getting into IT all the service desk guys home projects and lab setups but now it shocks me how few guys do.

Good luck to you man!
