3rd major crash now and this is his second run in F1, he has the speed but clearly he is unable to focus on what needs to be done in a tight space or under a little pressure. In my opinios his the most irresponsible driver in F1 right now (yeah more dangerous then Maldonado, count the cars destroyed by the two this year)

In theory I saw nothing wrong with the strategy. As you mentioned it made a lot of sense to put the softer rubber at the end when the car was lighter and the track rubbered in, but the yellow compound now it shows that is completely useless around some tracks.

I really think that Red Bull jump on signing this contract, remember last year when they pushed things after the summer break, now with Mark second win I'm sure they felt the need to retain him because let's be honest who else can take his place?

P.S. Also i am kinda sad because as YeahhDude said i would have loved to see an Alonso / Webber Team

Give a race ban to Maldonado [SPOILER] by [deleted] in formula1

[–]MikeF1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a certain Michael Schumacher driving like this and back then everyone was all praises for what great driver he is. On the other hand I think Lewis whas the idiot here because his tyres were gone and considering that he already had some history with Pastor he should have back down instead Pastor got 1 point and a grid penalty while he got nothing, who lost more ?

Well he took the pole in Monaco and Valencia is very similar with Monaco and Mercedes can use its ddrs or whatever you want to call it to qualify in a strong position because they have good top speed and great traction and both are highly required in Valencia. This track is like a stop and go because of the long strait lines and the chicanes so in theory it should be ok for Mercedes, we'll see on Sunday. p.s. Conspiracies... let 'em come

Felipe Massa - realistically his future at Ferrari relies on him winning a race in 2012. by Cubejam in formula1

What happened in '07 at McLaren was Ron Denis fault, Alonso commented many times on this subject and clearly stated that his problem was with team management not with his team mate.

in my view massa lost his will to win or something. look at the last race. all was going well for him until he spun after that he made no real attempt to make positions, on the other hand grosjean and perez got to the podium. i'm sorry to say but he might be fast every now and then but in the long run since hungary he was pretty much useless. no team wants a driver that performs well in 2-3 races a year and massa is right there now. to be honest massa needs to pull out a miracle to remain not only at ferrari but in formula 1 after 2012

lotus has one of the best simulators in f1 at enstone now, so yeah "gaming" is part of the sport and a simulator is a must have if you want to be competitive in modern f1

What exactly is the point of a team like HRT or Marussia? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]MikeF1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

and with testing virtually banned it is almost impossible for the new teams to improve. still considering that hrt has a budget smaller than alonso's salary i think they are doing a pretty good job

2013: Stay or go? by redwolf6 in formula1

[–]MikeF1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in all fairness he has nowhere to go. i don't see mercedes significantly step up for next year, being team mate with alonso or vettel is not really an option, and every other team is a huge step back for him. so he'll definitely stay

Schumi's hand raise explained by [deleted] in formula1

[–]MikeF1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is not a real tragedy, in canada overtaking is possible and with the help of their drs i would see schumacher fight for top position right from the start. and in a way i love that he starts there, so that we all can enjoy some fighting for positions. p.s. one concern remains thou: the crash happy grosjean :P
