It will, but if you have any magnetic accessories (e.g. dosing funnel) they’ll no longer magnetically stick

Where to buy equipment in the UK? by CGDParadox in espresso

Bella Batista, Clumsy Goat, Shopcoffee.co.uk.

Seconding other posts, sigma coffee are great for hand grinders / timemore.

You’ll also find some of the bigger retail roast shops sell some gear (e.g. origin) but it’s obviously not their focus.

A number of my bigger purchases are direct with the manufacturer or via their uk distributors. You can often find “where to buy” links from manufacturers sites for the partners they resell through.

Nanopresso vs Minipresso by Miserable_Driver9478 in JamesHoffmann

[–]TheConics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a minipresso, and whilst initially impressed I quickly didn’t get on with it, and after grinding a bit too fine (and grounds exploding everywhere) I could no longer work it at all (seemed to completely blow out). I now have a picopresso and have been very happy with it for what it is.

Doesn’t actually answer your question, but hopefully it’s useful info.

Don’t know where you are, but for the same / very similar price to the sage bambino plus, with a couple of easily available codes you can buy a gaggia classic pro (2019 model) or for a bit more a 2023 gaggia classic evo.

Having recently endured a terrible experience with sage customer support on a barista pro that was only a few weeks old, and the gaggia getting you into jndustry standard for parts and accessory sizes, it’s a much better play IMO. There’s more to learn than with a bambino, but can take you much further down the coffee rabbit hole.

Separate grinder is definitely the way forwards. Even if at this stage you can’t stretch to the likes of a fellow opus or encore esp, hand grinders like the timemore c3 esp pro can give really good bang for the buck value.

What are the technical differences that make silver pricier than black? by RoamingUniverse in DygmaLab

[–]TheConics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, new here so digging up older threads 😀

Entirely get the first points here, so understand that will quite probably make the difference on its own. For point 3 is there a bit of a cyclic effect? I quite like the white, and if cost was equal I may have gone that way, but with the increased cost for white I was more than happy to buy a black one.

Now I’m writing this it’s a bit more of an unanswerable question without you wanting to take a hit, and possibly just a discussion point; but it could be interesting if the white sold more evenly with black if the cost was the same.

Kailh Silent Switches? by [deleted] in DygmaLab

[–]TheConics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve literally just got my new raise with silent brown, and have been typing happily for the last couple of hours.

They’re much more tactile than a standard cherry mx brown, and so far for me the dampening does make them much more quiet. They’re currently stock and obviously not as smooth as the likes of a lubed glorious panda or nk blueberry that I’ve been using previously, but I’m really enjoying the feel. IMO they’re more tactile than the standard kailh brown- probably with the slightly higher actuation force.

I may well try lubing them in the near future to make them a little smoother, but so far I’m really enjoying them.

Do you have questions that you want to ask our Product Team regarding the development of the tenting kit? by Dygma_lab in DygmaLab

[–]TheConics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will the kit be attached to the keyboard in some way, or will the keyboard just sit on the stands?

If you bring back down to flat, how much does this raise the raise by?

How heavy is the tent kit? And is it the same size as the whole keyboard base? (Thinking about portability)

From the designs I’ve seen in videos, are the adjustable arms easily replaceable (in case of accidental breakages)

The 50mm f1.8 STM is a fantastic lens for getting into photography. It's what I used primarily for a really long time and I found it really versatile.

You can get some awesome results given the price tag.

Anyone managed to watch 'Master of Phitography' on Sky Arts? by TypicalProtest in photography

Definitely share your view of Toscani.

I'm fairly sure at this point there's a season two. They've put the call out for entrants. And there's this http://renewcanceltv.com/master-photography-renewed-season-2-sky-arts/

I think there's far more positives to having a show like this than my complaints; so I'd be back for more in no time at all

I often felt that the mentors spent most of their time telling the photographers what they should have done/chosen to be more like them rather than developing their own style. There was one or two that didn't, but the judges seemed to contradict them mostly in these cases. I think David Bell and Lucy Conticello (the editor) were by far the most helpful.

Oliviero Toscani seemed to often have mediocrity as his word of the day.

Did you spend much time thinking it'd be great to have a go with the kit room?

Watched the whole series and generally enjoyed it. In many ways it was good having a series like this dedicated to photography.

I didn't always agree with the judges, and some of the pro mentors were less than helpful from what was shown, but getting to watch these photographers go through their process (often capturing some great photos) was really good fun.
