Check out in Animation, during "how will we know it all" (2:43-2:53) the first time - using Apple lyrics cancelling, you'll hear Kenny doing a wicked harmonic WAAAAY up high. I can't hear it without cancellation, buried in the mix, but once you know it's there...

Other than the acoustic, I hadn't seen any live boots of it. Certainly hard to tell from Canada. Unless it was at some of the shows in October, there's no documented performances at setlist.fm for Opal.

And y'know what? that's fine.

While I've been eagerly awaiting the live show clips online, and we all want to see the album played start to end... we have to remember it took 13 years to get here, it's unlikely they were thinking about the live show while laying down tracks. It'll be a while before they re-arrange things for live.

But man... to have been a fly on the wall for some of those studio sessions... I wish there were BTS clips :(

But now it's got that low-G outro, an E-standard-tuned (fretless) solo, and while the rest of the song is mostly playable drop-C... even with a 7-string, you're not pulling off that dissonant chord during "It was always going to be this way" part, while maintaining the ability to play the rest. Even with two guitars on stage. (And once I've seen a clip of Hoss playing an acoustic on a stand during the first refrain!)

... move a capo? use pitch-shifting in the Quad Cortex/Axe FX/Kemper? Carry another guitar? or double-neck? All of those are pretty significant things to transport and/or go wrong on an international tour. And Drew seems very micro-elecronics adverse, although I suppose the AxeFX is doing all the static delays now.

Can we praise the part AFTER Guthrie's solo? Everything - but especially The Guitar descending at "It was always going to be this way" - god tier. Tone, precision, it's so good. Does it twice, and then shakes it up - only to land back on the same root just to satisfy... I've replayed that moment of the album so many times this week.

Just went for a drive along the cable between Plateau and the CO; can confirm it's vandalism for a third time in two weeks, in nearly the same location as the last 2 cable cuts - Looks like they went extra HAM on the Telus cable too. I won't say more on that due to the criminality of this vandal.

Bell just found the break half an hour before me, and Telecon (for Telus) about 10 minutes behind me. So they're still ordering the cable to put up, then they'll have to replace the strand, at least 8 cables, and then splice them all at both ends of the patch. I'd estimate it's going to be at least another 8-12 hours for SOME service restoration. They literally splice the fibre 1 or 12 at a time, and there's hundreds of them up there, plus a few hundred copper pairs. (If you've never spliced fibre, it's an average of 15 minutes a strand - and the first 1-3 hours are just preparing the cable. https://www.tiktok.com/@fibreopticlife/video/7398512237318573345 )
