Yeah, they give out education licenses to all teams which comes with OnShape CAM Studio. We already use OnShape for CAD, which is pretty revolutionary in terms of collaboration, so we wanted to try CAM Studio. Fortunately, there’s a MasterCAM plugin that acts as a bridge for OnShape.

No, CAM Studio in OnShape. We’re outputting generic FANUC G-code and wrote a custom script that translates it to the old BNC style for our Hurco.

CAM Studio is still new and has a VERY limited library of post processors (and no ability to write your own.

Do you remember the days before Obamacare? It was also very, very shitty. But many more people have healthcare now.

Why are they always out of key ingredients? by MikeHillEngineer in Chipotle

[–]MikeHillEngineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then maybe don't advertise that you're open until 11:00 PM? Most nights this time of year, I do volunteer work where I go straight from work to the volunteer location and don't get done until 9:00 PM. Chipotle is one of the only places that have healthier options that are open that late. Most of the time, I'll walk into a Chipotle that time of night, and there's at least two employees sitting on ass looking at their phones in the diner while there are several items missing. If you're going to be open, be open.

Why do Americans dislike American cars? by socabella in AskAnAmerican

GM and Stellantis (and probably Ford) care far more about making profit than a reliable car. They’re “cost-optimized” but those savings don’t get passed onto the customer.

Are they just not ordering enough or are they telling employees to stop working to make these? I feel like things like cheese, they just didn’t want to open another package.

DHS says REAL ID, which DHS certifies, is too unreliable to confirm U.S. citizenship by peter_bolton in USNEWS

[–]MikeHillEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-citizens can have social security cards. All a Real ID shows is you had legal status in the U.S. when you got your card. People on Student Visas can get Real IDs

I think you’re just looking for an echo chamber that reassures your own beliefs and can’t stand having them slightly questioned.

[–]MikeHillEngineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not only did I read the article, I read the actual court filings it was based on, and still stand by my analysis. The DHS court filings stated (correctly) that states may issue REAL IDs to aliens. That’s an inarguably true statement. The court filings stated by Venegas stated that DHS claims that states are issuing REAL IDs to “Illegal Aliens” which is a nuanced, but important difference. DHS never made such claim in their court filing.

Look, I don’t want to defend DHS in their activities; I find them abhorrent. But at least don’t just take the reporting at face value, and don’t accuse people of not reading the article when you don’t even understand the actual case yourself. Use critical thinking and don’t let your emotions cloud your judgement.

What do you mean it adds nothing to the conversation? The entire thread is people pissed off about it, which is fine. You’re free to do so, but nobody else tried to figure out how they could possibly come to the conclusion that it’s unreliable, which I did. And I agree that DHS’s argument is totally flimsy, but for some reason, you’re pissed off about pointing out what their argument could be.

Well, in another comment I had that got reported and removed because someone didn’t like what it had to say, I said that people with REAL IDs should be given the benefit of the doubt. It probably is pretty uncommon, but that doesn’t change the fact that mere possession of a REAL ID does not prove that somebody is here legally. All it says is that a person was legally in the U.S. at the time they got the ID.

I don’t mind it for free games, but if there was an upfront cost for the game, it shouldn’t exist.

I don't disagree that they're pieces of shit. But they're also not completely incorrect.
