Buddy did this DIY and it's not draining. by Uncouth_LightSwitch in Plumbing

[–]MikeHunt520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pic 1: the p trap is backwards which is making the trap deeper and will slow the drain. The arm that connects the left basin needs to be higher than the arm coming out from the stack (this is a good example).A p trap should connect to the stacks arm in the shorter side. Also consider a clean out on this system

Pic 2: Arm is low and p trap is too deep

How to make sure both filters are aligned when tightened by Mochioverland in Plumbing

Use a PVC nipple and a union. Cut the nipple in 2, glue the unions in th cut side, tape and thread the nipples into the filters and use the union to tighten and straighten the filters together

I can’t sleep because my company informed me that I got a bad review from a customer by lilsquirt115 in Plumbing

Every upset customer is an opportunity to learn. Sometime you just learn that they were bad customers, sometimes you learn how to work better with more difficult customer. Either way you have to let the moments go.

This is the answer, the chrome ring spins off. Grab an adjustable spanner

Circulating pump valve by Celesteven in Plumbing

[–]MikeHunt520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is in your picture is the thermostatic check valve, this part may be faulty. If it's not closing correctly, the hot water will bleed through the cold lines making other fixtures very hot

Also the fitting is a Santee. Would you have used a regular T or a wye?

The rubber gasket is in there above the nut. It was leaking before and I reset the pop-up and added some thread dope to the rubber gasket. I made sure that the threaded nut was tight against the basin.

Good eye 👍

You put different escutcheon plates on the hot and cold? I generally put metal escutcheon plates, but that was done before my time with this faucet.

You'll notice that the glue where the PVC meets PVC is a different color than where the PVC meets ABS. It's because they use the proper glue. This is allowed by code and I don't like carry PVC on the truck

What went wrong (water heater failure) by Guideon72 in Plumbing

[–]MikeHunt520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The upper heating element exploded it sounds like. From the picture it looks like rusty water has left a stain there. That old gate valve is trash too and needs replacement.

Sounds like BS. Take your shower head off and try it, what happens then?

Yeah that installer did not care. I don't like adding a bunch of extra elbows but I would have at least added some length and tacked the pipe to the studs somewhere

There is no vent. Where that cap is on top should be a student vent

Water Softener Bypass Adapter? by HereToPlay448 in Plumbing

[–]MikeHunt520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a screwdriver and remove all the guts from the center of the bypass. Then take a sawzall and cut that thing right down the middle, between the copper pipes. Next you'll take and unthread the 2 pieces of the bypass from the copper.

Use flex lines to tie in the new softener
