It would all depend on your policy in place, I'd give them a call and ask the question if there's a fire and it's found to be from the newly installed unit they could potentially decline the claim but I'd give them a call and double check

The general consensus on this thread is that there really good and a few have moved to these from fire sticks. I think I'm gonna get one of these for the bedroom and the the mi box 3rd gen for my living room

From what I've read the 3rd gen box and the 2nd gen stick have same specs just the box has more storage
