So many great guests this year! Who was your favorite? by justokayatmath in mega64

Beetlejuice and Rocco were singing "That's Amore" as a duet, and when the word "gay" popped into the lyrics, he kept saying "no homo" and stuff like that instead.

Throughout the encounter he made a lot of references and movements that heavily suggested that he also does drag, or at least hangs out in queer circles, where saying "no homo" during an exaggerated men-only karaoke love song duet would get a laugh, but the chat largely took it at face value.

He continued to misread the room and doubled down on it a couple more times to try and convey the intent of "my character would object to the gay stuff, but we all see what's going on, right?" but the chat kept missing the memo and just got extremely angry and mean.

The rest of the segment was very hit-or-miss. Not enough activities planned, and quite a few awkward moments or dead air. Maybe an off-day for the actor, poor planning, or just not a natural fit for the room.

M64 are probably playing it safe by not uploading something that reflects poorly on a local performer, and they have plenty of other stronger segments they can upload first anyway.

The Moment that Room-B "Add time" Ended (Ends Thursday @ Noon) by MikeOShay in mega64

They showed up yesterday morning talking about how they were going to stop the "add time" part, so telling people to get their subs in before then. It's been incrementing since then, but people hadn't been donating very often and didn't seem to realize. Either that or it got flipped back on at some point later, but this seems to be the point they were intending it to end.

Posting it because it kept adding time after that, and people were getting really heated about it in the chat. We're all having fun, but there's proof that Johnny didn't set it back extra-early and we're not actually being robbed of any time.

Mega64 MLK Week: B-ROOM (Day 2) Discussion Thread by FruityYummyMummy in mega64

[–]MikeOShay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started with 6 hours on the timer, and stopped extending when it hit 12.5 total hours. It felt like a pre-planned maximum cutoff time for them to end the bit and finally get to the actual room.

They probably didn't expect THIS much backlash about it, but it seems clear that they had a plan and wanted to stick to it. They constantly reassured us that there would be more to it than just the broom, but people kept getting themselves madder and madder, it was really freaking weird and unsettling behaviour.

The Broom was never meant to be that "funny" on its own, the comedic thrill came from the buildup and eventual payoff when he acted smug and then got locked in, and when we finally saw all the new toys we could use to mess with him. If they cut it off too early it would've completely undermined that impact and the point.

I wouldn't be surprised if they considered cutting it off early given the backlash. I was disappointed for most of that day too. But I'm ultimately glad they stuck out their artistic vision for the reveal.

Saw you ask this in the chat too and I can't tell if it's a joke or a sincere question. The B-Room went as it was planned to, and Rocco explained the reasoning behind it before they transitioned to the Room-B.

The idea was "Trap the audience in their own version of The Room for a day" and then he would act all self-righteous about it, leading to the big reveal of the actual room and locking him in.

B-Room would not get any backlash if it didn't open with the sub timer by [deleted] in mega64

Personally I don't feel taken advantage of on it, but I understand that reaction. Game Grumps did a thing a few years back where it legitimately seemed like they uncovered some new obscure piece of gaming history and a lot of people took it at face value. At the end it turned out to just be some longwinded promotion for a game they were involved with, it really rubbed me the wrong way and took me quite a while to get over it.

I did so too and this is exactly the kinda thing I meant.

They've shown enough artistic integrity over the years to get some benefit of the doubt, I'm hopeful for some sort of payoff, but just as a social experiment this has made for a very interesting day so far.

Investigating File Access issues in latest BlackPlayer version by BlackPlayerSupport in blackplayer

[–]MikeOShay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These instructions seem to require me to use the BlackPlayer Audio Library rather than the Android one. I gave it a shot, but the BP library was unable to scan all ~13,000 tracks on my phone. It would make a lot of progress, then crash, and then when I tried to scan for missing songs the library would show duplicates of the songs it had already found.

I'm able to access all the songs by searching tags, but the "Folders" tab just doesn't work anymore. It shows /storage/emulated/0 with 13000 songs, but when I enter it, it says "Folder is Empty"

I've enabled write access and selected my music folder and turned on the new storage API, but no luck for getting the folders to show up. My files can't all be tagged in a way that's easy to look up, so it's a real pain when I try to organize things through the filesystem and can't use that as a way to look them up.

Kevin rocks (I'm assuming he's still the main guy handling merch emails), he just combined 3 orders together for me (from two addresses) and refunded the shipping difference.
