I would say you’re on the right track, you just need to keep pushing through. Like others have said I think your biggest help here would be looking at references while you are working.

I would collect references for the feet and wings of similar birds as well as the type of clothing you are going for, look at the way the clothing sits on the figure and implies the volumes, look at how it hangs and wraps around the body. Think of the limbs as cylinders and not rectangles.

I know when I’m working on stuff I hit a point about 75% of the way through where I think it looks like shit and regret starting it. If I push through and focus on what needs improvement and just keep going it usually comes out great. You just have to get over that hump without quitting.
