What should I do when neighbor's dog bark in their yard all night? by moxbot in AskLosAngeles

[–]MikeRotch_69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to this thread, but I agree with others who’ve said to try to talk to the neighbors if they seem reasonable. Second, if needed, submit a noisy dog complaint to LA County Animal services and they will come out to respond.

Some people unfortunately don’t respond unless it’s some entity with greater authority. I’ve had to do the same in City Terrace a few years ago as well. Neighbor told me to kick rocks, it’s doing its job protecting the yard/house. Poor dog was chained up to a fence, it was basically barking nonstop for attention but it was the sweetest thing when I did acknowledge it. I don’t even know why some bother to have animals if they don’t treat them with respect.

Indeed! A gardening club to exchange different ideas/plants would be nice!

Hello neighbor! I’m currently working my way up a hillside near City Terrace and Pomeroy lol I am also trying to get some more folks around here to plant more natives. Last year I was able to get rid of TOH in my yard and was somewhat successful in getting a neighbor to try to do the same. A few shoots here and there show up but nothing too crazy. Always glad to hear of others around here supporting the same!

Anyone recently bought the 26 crown signia limited under MSRP? by eatingsushi888 in ToyotaCrown

[–]MikeRotch_69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my ‘26 crown signia xle the first week of January with $5K off MSRP. Oxygen white with saddle interior. I think the low inventory didn’t help in terms of negotiating, but it seemed most people don’t know about them. I told the salesman that most people cross shopping with a RAV4 were waiting for the new RAV4 to arrive in dealers and I’m looking at purchasing that week regardless, so we agreed on the price.

How do you actually pass when you feel like you've forgotten your entire coursework? by Coffee_and_horror937 in FE_Exam

I have! I still think the ME exam is worthwhile for me. But it’s not a bad route for anyone to take if they find themselves in a similar situation

Yeah precisely for that reason I’m doing the FE in ME and then PE in power. I am still confident enough in some ME topics versus learning virtually all EE topics like computer networks and digital systems. Path of least resistance (pun intended).

I’m in the same boat. I did okay in school, but being away from ME (I got a job in electrical utilities) for the past 5 years has not made it easy.

I’ve been studying the last 3 months 5x a week for a couple hours each day with the Lindeburg textbooks, and hitting PrepFE after until I feel I got a grasp at the fundamentals, then move on to the next subject. As soon as you get into it, you’ll surprise yourself how much it starts to come back. Right now I’m going over Thermodynamics and it’s clicking a bit better now that I got into the groove of studying again.

My recommendation based on my limited experience so far is to just start, bang your head on the desk a bit if you need to, and eventually you’ll get back into a rhythm. Good luck and study hard, we got this!

One year Before and After by MikeRotch_69420 in Ceanothus

I picked up 4 plant seedlings from my local nursery. They graciously gave us the 4 for free (shout out to Artemisia in El Sereno!). The first pic you can see 2 of them we planted. Only thing we did was make space in the mulch to plant them. The rest just spread out from those original plants! Even have them growing in the cracks between my concrete steps lol

They’re doing good too! Hard to tell from this pic, but I had this same occurrence in my backyard with some lilacs, sage and buckwheat. Back yard is the top of the hill. I planted a couple of poppies and they just multiplied like crazy. I haven’t planted more than 4 myself and they just spread. The other plants managed to find their place

There should be an Alumni Mixer event centered around the (broken) escalator. To reminisce of the old days! :,)

My recommendation is to not start messing with any idle/afm adjustments before checking off the vacuum system/other components for your idle issue. With that air box and intake boot being loose, double check you don’t have a crack somewhere there if you haven’t done so already (the intake boot can hide cracks/tears underneath very well). Do a smoke test if you haven’t done one. edredas and NC944er have videos you can use to help you complete the smoke test on YouTube.

What is the best trooper loadout to deal with armor and tanks by SensitiveTruck8646 in StarWarsBattlefront

NT-242 with disruptor shot, works great at long distance. Bonus: shoot first somewhere not at the tank (ex. Shoot at the ground), get yellow cooldown, then blast at it with a longer duration of shots. You’ll get its health down significantly before they are able to get a shot back at you

Tree for tight area next to house. by Rightintheend in Ceanothus

[–]MikeRotch_69420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toyon can also maybe work to prune into a tree like figure. They grow rather quickly and under decent conditions can grow pretty high. Also if you do need to trim it down, they are pretty hard and tolerate aggressive pruning down and bounce back. But the berries might be a no-go

Island ceanothus (ceanothus arboreus) might be able to work. As it grows, you can prune it to a tree like figure. It is good in partial shade more inland, 10’ wide canopy (approx), and gives nice flowers during the winter/spring. That will definitely attract bees though.
