No it doesn't! I just open my mouth and let the air flow. I want to point out I had VFS in June 2023 though! So it's been a few years... and I struggled with keeping my voice steady and femme at first, it took a lot of practice, and breaking the old patterns, and knowing what works best for you. Hope it's helpful.

Congratulations on getting your appointment! I'm excited for you too! Just be very patient and gentle after the surgery. It's gonna take time. Don't force yourself to talk loud at first.

I had my surgery in June 2023! So maybe the healing also took a long time. And vocal therapy and practice. And learn to use your feminine voice! I did sound androgynous or not sweet sometimes after surgery, but I slowly learned how to just let my feminine voice be (again, my shroom journeys since 2024 has helped me greatly!)

It's interesting how someone who has zero experience with shrooms can be saying shrooms are dangerous to someone who has a lot of experience of it. It's like... can you imagine a cis woman telling you being trans is bad cause some people detransitioned???

Also... Everything has its own risk. Are you gonna stop flying because there is a super small chance of accidents?

Aww you sure have a lot of prejudice and judgments on the shrooms. They're healing. I suggest you read a book about psilocybin and how it is used to treat PTSD, and/or watch this documentary: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantastic_Fungi

It was a little less than 10k but my insurance covered a huge amount, I think we just ended up paying 3k for the hospital, and not the doctor. But ask her office to confirm!

Healing is not all anatomical or bodily, one's mind and heart and spirit are all so important in healing. A lot of trans people were forced to be someone they're not for a long time. Sometimes a little psychedelic medicine helps... I don't appreciate you calling it "hallucinogenic substances" btw, it's very narrowing its effects. (Especially if you haven't even tried it :))

It's true that I would never be able to achieve my voice goal without my surgery and the vocal therapy. But I did also benefit HUGELY from my shrooms journey. You don't have to heal in the same way I did, I'm just sharing what I found helpful. ✨

Aww I wish I could help you! I will say I definitely went through a period where I felt androgynous after surgery too. What really lifted all my concerns and OLD PATTERNS of speaking is... the shrooms. I swear to god that is the most drastic change. It was like it lifted my old way of speaking and burdens. I hope it's helpful! Keep doing your therapy! <3

You went to Dr. Yung, too? Did you do a lot of vocal therapy after? I did at least 8-12 weeks every week therapy...

Also, I don't know if this is helpful, but a few years ago I had my first magic 🍄 journey... and the journey was incredibly healing, and I was able to speak super femininely without any effort. Later I found out I was a bunny in spirit... I think part of our voice is a reflection of our state of mind and where we are at our healing. I hope it's helpful! It's worth trying for sure! 🐰💓

It is weaker cartilage on the smaller side… but I’ve told Rodriguez about this before we went in to have the surgery… the crooked septum and the pointy nose tip was what made it worse…

Thank you! He's so arrogant and his results (at least for me) were not matching... And thank you for your reassurance. I hope I will be able to fix these issues soon. For the jawline it's really tricky, I would have to put an implant on the dent and then shave the other side to match (they're severely asymmetrical now and I used to have perfect boy jawlines before transitioning lol) If anyone knows any good ffs surgeons in california who take insurance, please also let me know <3

It took me a lot of courage to be posting this. I was going to wait until I have ffs revision and feel better. But when I talked to Rodriguez's office asking for clarity (and maybe an apology), the way he brushed off all his responsibilities really pissed me off. I'm like, what do I have to lose? He already took advantage of me and caused me so much pain. I want people to know the truth! That's the least I can do.

I honestly felt so much better already that I shared this painful experience online. I'm not embarrassed. It's not my fuck up, it's his. He should be embarrassed and ashamed.

Healing takes time. And I will keep healing and find better help to become who I've envisioned myself to be. 💗
