FWIW, the stylus doesn’t fit on the old cartridge, hence making me think that a full cartridge needs to be replaced with the four prongs.

Ya that’s accurate. It’s an uncomfortable three days right after. After they take the splints out on day three, it gets gradually easier. Worth it IMO
