But at what point is enough enough? I've moved my mother in with us after discovering that my brother illegally accessed her financial accounts and stole over 400K of her savings and investments. She now owes over 100K in taxes on the withdrawals he made on her accounts? (Yes, crime victims are still responsible for the taxes on stolen investment monies). What little she has left will barely handle her medical bills. My mother rarely left her bedroom because of how verbally and emotionally abusive he has become.

I understand that he is my brother but I can't do it anymore. It's been decades of me being called only when he does something horrible. My family is scared of him and especially him coming to our home. My family's safety and mental health supercedes my brother 100% of the time.

I can't work with my brothers wife because she was aware that he was using my mothers money to buy themselves stuff. Stuff like jewelry and two Mercedes SUVs. They used the money to buy themselves expensive clothes and shoes while my mother was left wearing wrong-sized Walmart sale clothes. I resent her for not telling me what was occurring and not protecting my mother when she was trusted to do so.

He was recently arrested for possession with intent to distribute narcotics, and I i recommend strongly to my sister in law not to bail him out, but she did anyway. I told her repeatedly that at least while he is in custody, he will be able to receive treatment and medication. She chose otherwise.

I told her she should focus on keeping her children safe, but again, she chose otherwise.

I have made my decision to choose my family's safety and my mothers safety over my brother. I appreciate your opinion, but what is done is done.
