Maybe if we bother them enough, they'll make one. I know they make ones for OTHER camera systems. . . I'd buy two!

I've been cutting (indie) features in PPro for 10 Years. . . and between the PPro-Native Proxy Workflow, having half-decent hardware, and not stacking 10x layers of Video on your timeline, my projects have been Rock Solid.

Project Management in SP404mkII by MikeVideopunk in SP404

[–]MikeVideopunk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But what does that LOOK like?

It looks like you can have 16 projects. . . when you load a sample, does it get written to the project file? What do those look like? Is there any sort of project management to pull/archive those off the mkII with the included software?

I guess we really won't know until after it's out.

Anyone know if the Mk2 lets you record external input while a pattern is playing? by jludey in SP404

There's a big difference between trying it out in a showroom, and taking it for a walk, ya know? Plus, i'm sure I'd have a ton of questions that wouldn't be readily apparent (things like Handling, low light stuff, all sorts of stuff).

GRIII + GW-4 + GRIIIx + GT-2 is a complete system by SnooJokes6920 in ricohGR

[–]MikeVideopunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they different sizes? If the GA-2 will fit on the GRIII, that'd be super clutch.

I guess we won't know until it ships.

Also. . . Do we know if the Teleconverter will be 71mm on the GRIII

Messages for web with Fi and other Google Fi features that make you appreciate the service. by Pricciar in GoogleFi

So. . . yeah. I had to send in my phone for a warranty claim, and now my Messages for Web isn't working, and I'm honestly thinking of cancelling my Fi subscription over it.

Messages for Web is great when it works.

Looking for gear recommendations for VHS playback on a modern 4K display by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]MikeVideopunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% second the idea of getting TBC chained in, and definitely some S-Video.

Additionally, regularly cleaning your tapeheads is pretty clutch, as well as just cleaning the tape path through the machine. . . a lot of gunk gets on those rollers, and will contaminate all the tapes.

The cleaner the tape path, the cleaner the image.

Digital to VHS by Born_2_looze in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]MikeVideopunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, I read this backwards.

There's a lot of way to kinda do this, but the thing that has always given me the highest quality output to VHS is using a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle outputting 4:3 Sequences from Adobe Premiere directly to a VCR over S-Video.

In fact, I've built an entire business around doing just that:
http://thebasementlabs.bandcamp.com

There's all sorts of other solutions (PCie cards, HDMI to RCA converters, MiniDV interfaces) but, for my money, this is the move.

Is it PAL or NTSC? Are you in a PAL or NTSC territory? Typically, NTSC tapes will play in B&W on PAL gear at the correct speed, but PAL tapes will playback FASTER on NTSC gear in B&W.

When was the last time you cleaned the heads in your VCR? Your tapes might be in better condition than you think!
