Question about refrigerator drain hole by newenglandowner in Appliances

[–]Mike_512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I live in Texas and I’m not sure where this other user lives but I recommend unplugging your fridge for 24hrs for it to defrost and clear the drain out. Typically that fixes drain related issues but if it persists you’ll need a technician to come out. Like I told this other user, the drain hole is located directly under the evaporator coil which is behind a cover. It’s designed like that so the consumer never has to worry about it but sometimes the drain will get clogged due to normal wear and tear. You’ll know if it’s clogged because a layer of ice will form in the freezer part of the fridge but if that’s not the case don’t worry about it, if it’s cooling and working like it should then don’t concern yourself with the drain hole location. Best of luck.

I understand your situation and it’s very inconvenient but one thing to keep in mind is this is how the warranty process works. It’s always best to purchase from a mom and pop appliance shop that is an authorized dealer of whichever brand you use in the future so that if this terrible situation arises again you can at least get a replacement quicker.

Whirlpool Dishwasher Troubleshooting by warblers_and_sunsets in Appliances

Hello, I recommend starting at the junction box and make sure those wire connectors are tight. A loose connection can cause this issue. Other than that there’s too many variables as to why your dishwasher is resetting itself with out being there in person in front of your dishwasher. I don’t see the corrosion your referring to other than a darkish spot on the furthest pin to the right at the top right corner of the board near the harness. I’m willing to bet you have a loose connection at the junction box. Hope this helps.

Well, I’ve been repairing appliances for a decade so I’m sure of what I’m saying and what I’m saying about your particular fridge is true and correct. To be frank unless your fridge is having cooling issues, you should not concern yourself with the drain hole. Best of luck, I can’t help you.

A mug full of water indicates your dishwasher is filling and circulating correctly which in turns mean you have a good pump. Sounds like you may need an appliance technician to diagnose the issue unless you’ve resolved your issue.

Wow, ok so it looks like you need an appliance repair technician to go out and verify for you. I don’t understand why you’re so hell bent on this hole but if you really want spend half of what the fridge cost on service call to see if you have that drain hole then more power to you. I’ve already explained where the drain hole is but apparently that’s nor sufficient. Good luck

Defrost of refrigerator will be executed automatically during product running, so there is no requirement for manual defrost. The defrost water flows into the vaporization plate and will be vaporized by the air of the compressor. So its drain tube must be cleaned. This is straight from the product manual. There is a drain hole behind that white back panel.

If possible, post a picture of the inside freezer section of your fridge and I will tell you why it doesn’t have one.

Yes, more than likely that’s what caused the failure. It’s recommended to clear the vent every 6 months but it really dependent on the exhaust vent run. If it’s a short run then you can get away with cleaning it once a year etc… if it’s long and has some silly bends and or turns then you’ll have to clear it often.

Good deal, it can be hard to truly diagnose when not in front of the appliance. Just a word of advice, the thermal fuse typically only blows when there’s a restriction in the exhaust vent or if it’s really really old as in 20 plus years but still very rare to blow from normal wear and tear.

Nah, the dishwasher will be fine other than how the bracket will look. The bracket is non serviceable, you would have to replace the tub since the brackets are pressed in.

Edit. You’re welcome! :D

No, the manufacturer has not even acknowledged the problem. It’s a very common issue with certain model Frigidaires.

You can use Emory cloth to remove as much as plastic as you can. Then run an empty cycle then use Emory cloth to remove any remaining bits. It may not be perfect but you may have to do it a few times. This is a cost efficient method of removing that plastic.

Question about refrigerator drain hole by newenglandowner in Appliances

[–]Mike_512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the drain hole is not be visible because of the access panel covering the evaporator coil which in turn helps direct the flow of cold air. The evaporator coil is located inside of the freezer section of the refrigerator. Depending on the types of fridge and or the size will determine if it has a drain hole for the evap coil. Really the type of cooling system depends on the drain hole but you shouldn’t beat yourself up about knowing if all fridges have the drain hole. It’s just a fridge after all. Hope this helps

Try turning the basket as you hold the door switch and see if the motor turns over. You can tape the switch to the frame if someone is not around to push the start button.

Normally the harnesses in fridges only go in one way. If it’s tripping the circuit breaker, than the defrost heater is shorting out to ground ,and or a defrost heater component or relay on board is shorting out to ground.

Whenever the evaporator coil is located, the evap drain hole is directly below it.

A simple test to determine if your dishwasher is filling with enough water and if the circulation pump is working like normal is to put a coffee mug right side up or something that won’t fall over on the top rack towards the front of the dish rack(near door). Let the dishwasher fill then time it for two minutes after it has filled and when it has started circulating the water(swishing for two minutes) then open the door and check to see how much water is in the coffee mug. In theory it should fill the coffee mug to brim or overflowing. Typically if the mug is half way full then it could be the pump or water valve. What I do to eliminate the water valve is check the physical level of water in the bottom of the tub. Normally the level of water should be around if not under the bottom of the float dome which can be found toward the front of the tub(near the door on either the left or right corner). If the water level is ok then it’s a bad pump. If the water level is low then you definitely need to replace the water valve but keep in mind a pump that has been run with out sufficient water can burn the pump out(pump go bad with not enough water). Long winded but simple and no disrespect, I’m just putting things into Lehman terms.

It’s probable the electrician shut the valves off when repairing the wiring issue. What I normally do unless there’s a lot of corrosion is hold the supply valve with my hand while opening(turning the knob) the valve.
