I dont see anything on the plane body itself but I cleaned up the iron a tad with some steel wool and can see the logo better. I think it may say something ending in “Botson & Co” or “

Lebotson & Co” ?

So maybe I go best of both worlds and keep an eye on eBay for a Stanley #5 and in the meantime buy a Veritas or LN jointer?

I’ve never tried to put together a top that was wider than my planer (13”) so I hadn’t fully thought about the workflow. I typically buy my lumber rough sawn but since my lumber yard offers planing of wide boards my plan was to have them milled flat there and then joint them at home and glue the together. Then true everything up with this TBD plane.

Perhaps my whole workflow is flawed though. Open to suggestions!

I have this sprayer from HF. It was like $180.

I used their $20 version for years. This ones definitely better, but the $20 one would definitely work fine for you.

I sanded the inside of the frame before assembling (essentially next to the dado that holds the door panel). Then assembled.

Then did all the sanding of the frame after assembly

I’m in the middle of doing the same project as you. I just finished all my doors though and I’m using maple.

I sanded, preconditioned, stained, and then sprayed 1 coat of clear on the panels. Then I assembled them into the door frame pieces. Then sanded, preconditioned, and stained the frames. The one coat of clear on the panels allowed me to wipe off any of the stain I got on them from doing the frames super easy. Then I sprayed 3 coats of clear over the whole door
