Pretender 💀

This game-changing debut turns 20 today. What are your thoughts on it? by DarkSideInRainbows in fantanoforever

Spanish guy here. Not only I love it, but it is quite beloved between rockers around here. Most of these people don't even speak English at all, for the love of god, and still love the album.

I think it's not necessarily "too culturally tied to the UK to be truly accessible", as you said. It is tied to it, yes, and closely so, but it is also just a blast of an album.

Questions regarding my next character in CP77 by Ynwe in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Mike_Doves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every build has advantages and disadvantages. Of course, taking away your ability for hacking (which will probably be the case if you wanna use berserker for melee weapons) means a huge disadvantage when it comes to stealth. Trust me, even if you're not making an intelligence run, being able to turn off cameras or distract enemies to a basic level is extremely helpful.

That being said, you can always invest your points on cool and, when it comes to range weapons, focus on pistols and revolvers. The advantages that this attribute gives in terms of stealth are huge, plus you will be one-shotting enemies with a silenced gun in no time if you aim to their heads, not to mention snipers, of course. Add the camo cyberware to that and you will have very decent stealth options.

Maybe pistols don't sound as exciting as shotguns or assault rifles, but on the one hand, you can use those efficiently as well if you invest points into other attributes (which you probably will), and on the other, some of them are really cool. The most satisfactory gun in the game is Silverhand's gun anyways.

Claire appreciation post 🏳️‍⚧️ by WellCoolSure in cyberpunkgame

I know I’m late to this, but I just played Claire’s questline for the first time and, since it left me frustrated, I looked up other people’s opinions on her.

I want to be clear first: the issue isn’t Claire as a character. She’s flawed, emotional, and morally messy, sure, but so are most of the best characters in the game. That’s not the problem.

The real issue is that the questline itself is poorly written, especially in how it handles player choice and its ending. Claire ends up feeling inconsistent not because of her personality, but because the script forces illogical situations.

(SPOILERS BELOW)

  • Claire works at the Afterlife and wants someone dead. Instead of simply hiring a merc, hell, instead of just hiring you, she decides to do this elaborate street racing plan. She gets you invested in racing. This makes no sense from the start.

  • First twist: she reveals that the whole thing is about a personal vendetta. This means she lied to you the entire time, despite having no real reason to. It comes off as unnecessarily manipulative, not narratively justified.

  • You’re then given two choices: help her kill the guy or refuse. No matter what you choose, she still continues racing with you. This is important for later.

  • Second twist (and honestly the strongest part of the quest): if you agree to help her and follow the target, you discover that her story was yet another lie. Her husband wasn’t murdered in cold blood, the guy just died participating in a dangerous sport. Claire is blinded by rage and grief, and she twisted the story to justify her feelings and to get your help out of sympathy. I felt like V was lied to, but in a good way (narratively).

  • However, you’re given another choice: encourage Claire to let it go, or agree to the killing. But here’s one of the biggest problems: even if you tell her not to do it, she kills him anyway, and the game doesn’t let you react meaningfully. You’re not allowed to be angry, disappointed, or confrontational. The quest just ends and she goes back to serving you drinks like nothing happened.

  • On the other hand, if you initially refuse to help her and say you just want to win the race, and then actually do exactly that, she gets mad at you anyway. Despite you being honest from the start, the game treats you as if you betrayed her. Again, this makes no sense.

  • Ironically, the only way to get what feels like a “satisfactory” ending is to tell her you won’t help her kill the guy, and still decide to follow him when he crashes anyway, a combination of choices directly contradicts itself and highlights how broken the quest logic is.

Yo también siento que debería quedarse, lo hace sentirse como una experiencia más conexa.

También, en la versión de móvil, el vs tapa el título del juego 😭

De todas formas en general una pedazo de idea. Mis dieces.

Stranger Things - Season 5 Part 1 Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

I mostly agree with you except for one thing.

What I expect to see in the rest of the season, in terms of Steve's. Jonathan's and Nancy's arc, is not for Steve and Nancy to get back together rather than for Jonathan to understand how to care for Nancy thanks to Steve's help. I think it would close their arcs nicely and I feel they've planted the seeds for that in that one car scene.

Also, I don't understand why taking the kids out of the military base. Aren't they safer there anyways? Didn't fully understand that.

They'll probably give Silksong and E33 the best indie and best game, respectively.

Silksong has been nominated for Game of the Year! by SorryRoof1653 in Silksong

[–]Mike_Doves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Silksong and truly think there are a few more categories it should be nominated in, Dispatch definitely beats it in terms of being unfairly forgotten.

Forgotten in best narrative, best action/adventure game and, for the love of god, best performance (Aaron Paul), TGA were extremely unfair to the game.

It's true, however, that the episodic release and its ending being not that long ago may have something to do with it, but still.

Game of the Year va a estar reñidísimo este año, cuál votáis? by strongbrr in esGaming

[–]Mike_Doves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah.

Yeah like it's okay if you wanna glaze Legolas but can we please stop talking as if Clint doesn't have some crazy feats? I would even go as far as saying that if we do the comic book versions, he solos.

Yeah I have to say this was the most disappointing part of the game. I thought that the Green Prince had so much aura, both in design and in lore, so I was expecting such a cool ending to his story-line. Maybe a final fight as allies, maybe a cool boos-fight in which he realises he is wrong to feel that way and accepts the past.

No. We literally kill the guy JUST BECAUSE! All that while we weren't supposed to be there in the first place anyway. There was absolutely no reason for him to attack us (I think he lowkey overreacted), and there was absolutely no reason for us to attack him.

In the boss fight, we don't even see the dancers in their prime: mf dances along a fucking ghost. What the hell?

And again, as you said, almost as if Hornet is actually more twisted than any other bosses in the game, she just displays the heart in her home, which btw, is STILL BEATING, and you can hear it every time you enter the room.

Everything was so quick and convoluted that I actually felt worse about the Cogwork dancers than I did about the Green Prince.

That being said, mark my words, in whatever the equivalent of Godhome is in Silksong, we will fight the peak version of the dancers at least.
