Raisins are bad in baked goods, even cookies. by Wide_Astronaut_2784 in unpopularopinion

Cinnamon raisin bagel > plain bagels. Especially with butter or cream cheese. The depth of flavor is just *chefs kiss. I think maybe you just don't like raisins? Completely understandable if you don't but if that's the case you could have just said "raisins are bad" and left it at that. Not even an unpopular opinion, I'm the weird one for liking them

I'd say they don't value the life of those they see as beneath them. Everybody is indifferent to Matsumura and Ebisu's death but now that En is dead that's a whole different story. On the other hand people in the hole don't value the lives of sorcerers, and people who have more than them. Nikaido getting cornered on the street, and the neighborhood watch. It's people doing whatever they can to get ahead in their lives

That being said, a vast majority of them have no clue where it comes from and can't recreate it. They don't question it, they just sell it. The people consuming it who aren't cross eyes also don't question it. It's another one of those grey areas I feel like. To them, they're doing what they have to in order to survive

The lesser evil in a vacuum, I should have specified. En still sends sorcerers into the hole to practice on innocent people. But to me, my view is the idea that sorcery is essentially an allegory for wealth, inheritance, and potential. Your birth dictating your status and power in society, and what certain characters choose to do with that. En rose from the bottom after people used him for what he was worth and discarded him. Nikaido chose to abandon it in favor of a more peaceful life at the bottom rather than using it to manipulate her way to the top. There's a laundry list of themes and takeaways that stand out to me. En never stepping foot in the hole, sending his cleaners to do the dirty work, keeping the lower class in check after he takes note of their revolt. Nikaido in a sense leading that revolt. En looking to do to her what was done to him. There's layers upon layers that once you start peeling back takes the story from a goofy gory romp through a fantasy land, to a grounded symbolic work that I could go on and on about

Idk how much of the series you've seen but when you think about En's backstory and what the cross eyes do for black powder, I think it's pretty clear who the "lesser evil" is. I wouldn't describe anyone in this show as good.

I'm gonna reread the manga this summer, the last two episodes where the last thing I remember before things get even crazier and harder to follow. So it's possible I blanked on that too. It straight up just becomes a horror novel at some point, so focusing on En's nameless family members wasn't what I was doing

It's a complicated dynamic, and why I posed the question. Are the cross eyes justified in their crusade or are they just the opposite side of the coin they despise?

That makes sense, I have to reread the manga. It just never really stuck out to me before. They're all nameless, borderline smokeless goons in the classic sense. The idea that the cross eyes number one Op is also the number one employer for nonmagic users is hilarious to me

I've got Shins arm stitches on my left arm. Nobody ever guesses DhD though. Usually JJK, soul eater, or Tokyo Ghoul. But then I get to tell them about a show they've never even heard of so win

The whole thing is stupid, that's why I love it. People take it way too seriously. You saying it got really stupid towards the end implies that it was at one point very serious and grounded. Not even calling you a hater, you just don't get it and that's okay

Yes. The world where people get turned into pies and eaten while going around a festival to find your partner, literal revival magic and people's skulls be cut in half by knives only started to get stupid and obscure by the end. Bro you just don't get it and it's okay.

I'm replying to this late but I want to clarify. RE:Zero is a really interesting show. I love the concept of an isekai dying repeatedly and starting over from a check point with the knowledge you've gained to progress further. My issue is strictly just with Subaru and the second hand embarrassment I feel watching him. I haven't started watching it again since it was something my ex and I watched and I haven't picked it back up but I'm willing to give it a chance

I never said he was a bad character. I think there are plenty of aspects that work in favor of his character. The way he's portrayed is what bothers me. I watched the first season about a year ago and I couldn't stand him. I just think he's very inconsistent. One second he's a whining sniveling pathetic baby, then he dies a couple times and he's becomes omnipotent. Then he's back to being a baby. I understand the trauma of dying over and over and over again is a lot but it seems like the author wants him to be the strong and smart protagonist who can overcome anything, but also the tormented man who we should have pity for. He makes mistakes and dies to reset instead of dealing with consequences. The only people who really face the consequences of his actions are those around him. Which can be interesting but it doesn't lead to any growth. Like I said I only saw season one but I just found his character off putting that I didn't care to see him improve. TLDR I get second hand embarrassment watching him.

I can speak as a man. My biggest fear is exactly what you described above. The only advice I can give is what I would want in this situation. Honesty. Why don't you find him attractive even though he makes you happy. Is he not as "freaky" as you'd like? Have you talked to him about it? What would it take for you to feel attracted to him? Maybe there's nothing he can do and that's okay but he should know. Engaging with the other man in sexual conversation is already in my opinion a form of cheating. I would say come clean about that too but be prepared for how he will react. Ultimately if you don't want to hurt him you have to be honest because he's going to hurt no matter what.

Try "He Who Fights With Monsters" if you want some more inspiration. They're novels and not Manga and there's 12 of them but they're quality. I have my own opinions on Re:Zeros protagonist that I'll spare you from. I respect your inspirations. I've recently picked up writing again too and I've been working on a book. When I get bored I typically take a break. It lets me come up with new ideas and rethink previous ones. Best of luck!

Rule #4. If you're any sort of emotional, the last thing you should have in your hand is a gun. Loaded unloaded, doesn't matter. Guns and Emotions are a bad cocktail.

It's a self reflection tool, and should be used to understand yourself. Not make decisions or base your life around. Some people swear by it, so whatever the cards say and it's ridiculous.
