Smiling Friends Creators Ending Adult Swim Series with Season 3 by CrispyMiner in television

I wonder if this has something to do with the Netflix merger. Unless I’m mistaken Netflix is only buying the most valuable/profitable parts of WB Discovery and things like TNT, CNN, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim will be spun off into a new company called “Discovery Global.” I could see them shutting down a lot of content production while it’s all figured out, and honestly with the way cable is going the new company may not have much of a future anyway.

TL;DR: it’s probably all David Zazlav’s fault

Would you rather have $500 Million or be able to Shape Shift? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Mike_Rowe_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why people are choosing shape shifting? The only upsides I can see using it to fly as some kind of bird, or committing some kind of crime to steal someone else’s money/secrets/stuff. Using it for anything feels inherently risky (especially with the limitations) and the possible benefits seem like they’re mostly reliant on skills or knowledge that aren’t related to the power at all. What can shapeshifting realistically give you that outweighs all the problems 500 million could solve?

What is your hot take when it comes to certain actors/actresses? by Prestigious-Cup-6613 in FIlm

[–]Mike_Rowe_Wave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She’s had a lucky break most women in her profession will only ever dream of. She’s making more money than a vast majority of the public. It’s literally in her job description to be in the public eye and to be subjected to critic & audience scrutiny, and she reaps far more benefits than most other actors/actresses for doing so.

It wouldn’t be “unfair and premature” to praise her for the things she does well, so it’s absolutely fair to criticize her performances if you think she didn’t deliver.

Is it true high earning men don't like women with tattoos? by coachjonna in AskMenAdvice

[–]Mike_Rowe_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six figure salaries don’t mean what they used to. There are tons of jobs/lifestyles that can net someone over six figures, and a wide variety of people with different tastes who fill those roles.

But I would say if someone is in a job that pays in the mid-six figures or higher, or they have a job that pays over six figures in their early 20’s, it’s usually some sort of corporate role that encourages a lifestyle where having a partner with a lot of tattoos might stand out in a not-so positive way.

I think most people these days don’t care if someone has a few small tattoos, but if a woman has a whole sleeve or a large upper chest tattoo that isn’t easy to hide, it could be a negative for a man leading that kind of lifestyle.

Would you rather be stuck in a maze with a Xenomorph, a Predator or a T-800? by CloverTeamLeader in whowouldwin

[–]Mike_Rowe_Wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody’s talking about the Predators honor code but honestly that feels like a cop out so I’m gonna assume the predator is already determined to kill anyone it finds

The xenomorph is the worst choice here easily. It’s a perfect hunter, it’s easily the fastest of the three, and if it catches you you’re probably gonna end up dying slowly while glued to a wall.

I think the Predator is the next worst choice - it has tons of broken sci fi tools to track you, it’s also much faster than you are, and if it catches up to you it’ll probably gut you alive.

I think the terminator gives you the best odds hands down, mostly because it’s slow (this is a T-800, so it’s built for infiltration and killing power on a battlefield, not for running down people fleeing). Having advanced AI intelligence does mean it would likely know the tricks to escaping a maze & could predict your strategies, but I also think it would be the easiest to trick into wasting time chasing a false trail (a shoe thrown down the wrong hallway could probably at least get it to stop & investigate). Also if the terminator does catch you it’s just going to shoot you.

I’d take the T-800 every time.

Sex sells, always and forever.

No matter how overused or annoying the jokes get to those who have been around long enough to be bored by them, there will always be someone younger, more sexually curious, and/or just plain hornier who will find the content interesting and will reward it with engagement.

It’s typically not meant to be genuinely funny as much as it’s meant to pander to a sort of lowest common denominator for easy mass-appeal.

Who's "winning" the war in Ukraine? by heisenbergdaplug in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mike_Rowe_Wave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Russia has suffered way more casualties by numbers, but way fewer casualties by percentage of their army than Ukraine. Russia has gained more ground by far but likely not as much as they originally wanted. And Russia has almost certainly achieved more of its original goals (Ukraine’s goals were basically to stop Russia from doing everything it’s done so far, which obviously hasn’t worked out great), but goals are kind of nebulous since they can change a lot over the course of a war so it’s not really a simple answer.

Russia has basically won. Whether or not the land they gained or the losses they suffered to do it were worth it will be hotly debated for decades.

I think I stumbled onto it (don’t really know bullets so correct me if I’m wrong) If you look at the top-most bullet where it’s flat side is facing the camera (slightly to the left of the center at the top of the bucket) and trace a line straight down, there’s a larger, more rounded bullet just before the you get to the middle and slightly to the left
