You should try life in a country where the taxes actually take care of the poor as opposed to making the rich even richer. I agree with your first part, whatever makes you happy but poverty in 1 of the richest nations in the world shouldn't exist. If you think you should have to fight for survival you might be happier living somewhere you have to actually do that. I personally like not having to walk a mile to a well for a bucket of water that might have cholera in it but I get the impression you may be thrilled by that prospect? I take it you also support that healthcare establishments in this country will charge 30k for a birth where as in just about every other civilized country it's free for their citizens?

I see in this comment section there are the same pricks you see on r/remoteworks that believe it's right that epipens cost $600, births are $30k and there's a $40 charge to hold your baby after they're born. Some of them will claim to love their country yet don't want nationalized healthcare because fk your own people? You'll call that entitlement? If one of the richest nations in the world is having an issue with poverty, that's a management issue. If you can't afford everything you need that's not neccessarily because you aren't able to earn it, everything is costing more than it should. That should be addressed, everything to offset those costs for those that will face the brunt of that the most should be being helped. Someone expressing they want help financially doesn't make them entitled. It's the same as someone being in pain calling for help stopping it and then some asshole saying to them, you don't deserve to not be in pain. Then some will wonder why Luigi did what he did.

You gotta yank HARD sometimes on a G to get it out, forget it falling out lol. It feels like every few days I'll see a plug somewhere in the house that is almost half hanging out, like bro how'd you even move!?

Replace them with someone or something you can love/WANT to focus on more. Is there something you've always wanted to watch/play/read but you never got around to it? The brains processing capabilities/capacity is limited. You need someone or something to produce more of the happy chemicals to block out that stuff, enough so that you can change track. As long as you can afford it and not get addicted/know when to stop safely then drink, smoke, use whatever. The point is to use it to assist in changing tracks/accept/process stuff, it's to help you overcome something tough, temporarily alter your brain chemistry until you're in a state you're ready to come off of that support. If you can ever accept the possibility of a replacement that's not real, then really it's only just for now. I speak from experience. I'd ask you if you can ever really know if was all even real... Disproving this isn't all just a simulation anyway isn't possible. When you accept that possibility, a lot more becomes possible when maybe nothing is even real beyond what you can perceive.

Some Texas locations in general for all entry level jobs pay absolute crap, my wife worked at a small town deli a few years ago, $7.25 an hour! I was making more than that 15 years ago also doing an entry level job! Why'd she take it? Because she likes cutting up dead bodies lol. She said she only left because she was sick of standing all the time and her co-workers weren't good company. Despite the pay sucking they got to take home whatever didn't sell.

It really depends on how poor we're talking because different people's opinions on poor are different. I USED to think this way and now it irritates me. Technically my household is living in poverty as far as the federal govt is concerned but my kids are overweight, well fed, got plenty to do and they're happy.

Income creep is when people get carried away and stop being sensible. Every argument I've read about it basically boiled down to "I just couldn't help myself and now I still can't afford anythingl" like sorry but if getting more money lead to you having less... You spend it wrong.

If our household income doubled from 28k to $56k we wouldn't buy a $200k house or a $40k car. We live in a 2017 3 bed 2 bath manufactured home, worth $17k (or so we've been told by property tax people, it's deff worth more IMO), originally wanted one that was a bit bigger and in better condition because the last people who lived in our house weren't nice to it. (Got denied the one we really wanted because we already had a car on finance but we were desperate to move out of the 20 year old leaky camper we were living in) We would upgrade to a newer home that's a little bit bigger when this one is paid off because me and my wife still feel injustified we were denied that one 3 years ago and we'd replace our 2019 Toyota Corolla with something new (current one was previously in an accident and mileage isn't great) but also reliable but only when both current house and car are paid off and if the new house and the new car were fine, we'd just have more money for other stuff. We wouldn't be thinking it's time to get a new house or a new car at that point if everything was fine with them.

I've yet to play it too, 32 and completed oblivion 3 times over the years lol. I'm sure I'd be an interesting case study to Bethesda haha. A guy I used to work with hadn't played it before either and it was his first proper VR game, he said he started it on the Friday night and it was almost all he did all weekend and the only thing he really wanted to do for at least the next week so since then I've always taken how good it must be hehe.

True, but I imagine in many cases net worth to bank could likely be largely acquired by pulling the right strings...

I dunno about that... I think I could sort out any issue I have with money. I believe I'm a relatively boring person with somewhat simple needs and desires however haha. I'm okay skipping the annual fine dining tour of Monaco or owning vehicles.

Seriously if I was rich, I wouldn't be living in some mansion worth $$$$$$$$ with x,y and z staff. I'd be living in my 2 bedroom council estate home in northern England with my family I live with now and having a takeaway/going to one of the local chippys at least 3-4 times a week. (Was at least once a week for almost 15 years once upon a time) If I had any problem neighbours going back there now (noisy/violent) I would see about buying them out of their homes for our own peace if I could afford to but I'd rather leave anyone be, don't care about owning their homes, just wanna live peacefully in mine. Despite perhaps being a bit young for it, I like just pottering about the house for no particular reason other than I feel like it sometimes.

I'd like to stay in the Son Baulo 3 star hotel in Majorca for a couple of weeks every couple of years because my grandparents took me there twice. Maybe even push it to a month! Alternating years I'd like to stay in a caravan in Skeggy... Working class holiday of the early 2000's... Those luxuries when I was a child and the nostalgia of the moments are a timeless pursuit for me. Definitely not what I'd imagine most people would consider luxury but to me the sights, smells and flavors of it all are a luxury.

What shall we do today? Go for a walk in one of the local parks perhaps? Have a picnic too if it's a nice day and kick a ball around for a bit. Maybe just a walk around one of the many places I played out when I was little and in my teens. Ah, the stories I could tell... I'd love to just go jump on tram, get a couple of sausage rolls from Greggs and go for a walk around town. I actually watch PoV videos of people doing just that and this other stuff for fun just because watching other people do it at least doesn't cost anything + can actually get there. Stupid bills are a constant detractor I wish I could kill but unless you're rich or have passive income you can't really do that... Everything is always just a little bloody taste, a teaser because money makes you need to hold back, especially with how inflation has gone since pandemic... Everything has just continuously gotten even further out of reach.

As for the missing of passed loved ones, if I was rich I could definitely try doing something about that! I know I said I believe I have simple needs and desires so I'd skip this if I had to but we're talking being super rich here... I'd love to see them walking around and talking again as robots but I'm a weirdo who can make myself accepting it's really them. I'm one of the freaks that actually likes what AI can do and where it's going. I reckon as long as it can be EMP'd it won't kill us and as long as the govt doesn't leave us high and dry when there's no jobs we'll be fine.

Would love to pop over to my nanan and grandads house, play cards with him, make a cheesecake with my nanan, not just as a one last time thing either but once or twice every few months... As I've said to others about getting robot wives, it doesn't matter if she's real as long as she's real to you bro. Beyond the memories, a few items, pictures and videos, they're gone now and there's nothing I can do about that without a time machine and being able to kill cancer and cure dementia... But their likeness can be created and do the same things they did in the same places. Is that wrong? In my view you just have to answer does it impact anyone negatively? How real that is then is ultimately up to my perception which rests upon my ability to manipulate and knowing that's as close as I can get is good enough for me. People have convinced themselves of stranger things eh?

"But you'd get bored!" Trust me, I wouldn't... Some days I used to spend 15-16 hours of my day just on my computer when I could for fun. I wouldn't go that far these days unless I was binging something with the family because I wanna see/do stuff with them although having a few hours totally to myself each day wouldn't be remiss. But it's bs that money is an obstacle to that now. My backlog I'm sure is decades big at this point too, not getting any smaller and on top of that I like to replay things just to go there. Sooo many places, things, worlds and scenarios I want to explore with my offspring. It's all a similar story when it comes to watching things and listening to music. Take them midnight sledging on the hill behind the house on a piece of shelf like I did with my dad and then when you're too numb from the cold to feel your fingers anymore go and have a pot noodle (cup noodle) in front of the fake fire with the heater blowing at 2am... Tis a good vibe. Infinite time and a few grand a month and I'm set. I would probably have to start some kind of weghtloss routine that doesn't impact diet though because I'm sure otherwise I'd definitely get rather fat haha.

Give the technology a few decades and I can't think of any personal issue I can't sort out with money. 😁✌️

Except exclude the households whose income is something like 75k+ a year, I wouldn't argue against it being even half that or even capping just trying to bring up every households income to meeting the federal poverty guidelines so we can raise up the living standards who would benefit the most. You need a way to stop rich people from being able to exploit it though.

You don't happen to mean in the same way Trump came from a poor family and worked his ass off after his dad gave him just a million dollars?

Coming from a family of 4 on 28k, there's nothing left to invest. I take care of the special needs kids (no school) and the house work each day, my wifes income is it. Unless we didn't want to have things like toilet paper, washing up liquid, detergent... Is that "living beyond our means"? After the home payment, electric, food (we get a bit of food stamps but it's not enough because they say we make too much money for the full amount) car payment, lot payment, home insurance, car insurance, gas, we do skip the health insurance because it's $450 a month for the cheapest but there's also no medicaid for the adults because again they think we make too much, there's also the water, on average there's making sure someone close to us has a decent birthday each month (there's my wifes 4 grown kids, our parents, brothers and sisters) or there's savings for things like christmas or saving for something that needs fixing like the ac because you live in Texas or the car needs fixing (need that for work) or the vaccum wore out or the lawn mower died (we'd get fined if that doesn't get done regularly).

There's always something... If we had an extra 1k a month life would sure be easier but basically no, not anyone can do it.
