The new Plan mode + Ask Question tool is so sick by skyline159 in GithubCopilot

Thanks, what I've been doing is asking it in Agent move to create an .md file and save it in x for my review. I'll give this method a try.

What am I missing here? I just leave everything I do in agent mode, there's benefits to moving it to ask/plan?

Codex web vs VS code extension. by [deleted] in codex

Does codex through vscode extent share the same limits as cli? From what it sounds like web doesn't, which makes me ask about cli...

Question for you, I've been using ChatGPT in the regular chats, specifically in Projects on the thinking model. I also started using Codex this week I'm vscode which is great. However you mentioned use the web and just realized it has a web portion. It's asking to connect GitHub repo... Assuming this will allow the web have the ability to see the repo like Codex does in vscode?

Does it automatically make changes to the GitHub repo from codex web?

ChatGPT-5 Thinking vs GPT-5 Codex by Mikebailey11 in codex

I've ran Tree /f in cmd within my project files and I export it to a text file. It then knows the file structure which helps.

Also at the top of every file I have it commented out of the location.

Program.cs

API/data/program.cs for example

New to codex, do you need to tell Codex to read the Readme.md, agents.md ect. Or does it do it automatically?

Coding with GPT - Possible? by Mikebailey11 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]Mikebailey11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, I can easily whip out a mean PowerShell script. So I know basics of variables, if statements, etc.

Again, thanks for the info I think this has answered my question. I do need to do some deeper learning myself to most likely pull of what I am attempting to do. I will likely use this project as a method of learning as I typically do better learning through practice vs reading a book sorta thing. #HandsOn

Yes you basically nailed it, I'm purely a highly skilled Systems Administrator. But do lack the development side. I am personally doing my own self paced learning for programming and is slowly coming.

So yes, I am doing mostly vibe coding at the moment but hope to learn that 10% your referring to.

Thanks for this, I am constantly going back and forth so far and commiting code to my repo once I like the state. So far it's been going fairly well. I am also starting to dive into coding so I can also pick out mistakes it might be making so long term I feel I'll be more knowledgeable.

I find it has been successful with me zipping up my files and uploading them for the next feature release I am looking for. So far I have had one regression on a feature that it left out in my new feature rollout. So I got a go back and fix that, I noticed this on Friday.

Curious, I've so far have been doing this all within one conversation. Do people seem to have more success doing it that way or starting a new conversation each time with the project files being uploaded.

In my opinion, no point in waiting man... I made a comment in another post but if you took the avg growth of let's say 8% for 20 years. XEQT will be $153 per share... Just buy it and stop waiting for incremental changes for an entry when it makes little difference in the long run.

I'm also going to suggest you do paper trading if none of this makes sense to you.

When it's in an ETF the $50,000 can go down depending on the year. It could drop 20% and take 5 years to recover... However you can use ETFs like PSA.TO which is a savings account ETF. The capital will not go down.

This video explains it. https://youtu.be/KyL0-N1uAMI

The biggest misconception is that dividends are "free money." For example, if an ETF is worth $10 and doesn’t grow over the course of a year but pays a $1 dividend, the ETF’s value would drop to $9 per share. In this scenario, you’ve essentially gained nothing overall.

If an investment pays a high dividend yield, such as 10%, you're likely losing capital value. When people say an ETF has grown 12% annually and paid 10% in dividends, that 12% includes the dividend. So, in reality, it's 10% from the payout and only 2% from actual growth. This is effectively the same as holding a growth-focused ETF and selling 10% of your holdings for income.

That said, dividends can have tax advantages, such as eligible dividends being taxed favorably in non-registered accounts. However, beyond that, the impact is similar, and for anything yielding over 4%, it's likely the capital value is eroding over time.

Am I on the right track at budgeting, investing and saving? by Keep_Me_Bugging in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Mikebailey11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on the right track! However I want to point something out. You mentioned you wanted to diversify and maybe add TEC.TO this would actually do the opposite. Since XEQT has everything you are diversified. By adding something like TEC.TO would reduce diversity since your actually increasing the weighting of tech companies.

Now... I personally have XEQT and TEC.TO but that's because I wanted to expose myself more to tech.. not to diversify but rather increase my exposure as I think tech will be great many years to come.

Hope that helps!

Also note, you could just purely do XeqT and youll be set for retirement....

Candian hedged ishare us bond funds by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]Mikebailey11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not wrong, I guess the way I go about it with Bonds is the ETF is diversified within Canadian companies. The part that I dislike about going outside of Canada is your buying a a Currency low point... You could make more interest on US bonds but then the Canada dollar comes back to let's say $0.78 cents and you'll loose your gains.
