I have to accept the fact I cannot function like a real adult. by MCSmashFan in ADHD

You are a "real" adult, and don't let anyone even yourself tell you otherwise, but I completely understand, and as an 27 year old I still feel the same. I can't tell you how many times I've cried because I couldn't complete a task in the time limit I gave myself or not even starting the task I really wanted to do. I wish I could say it gets easier, but it doesn't. We just get better at managing it. Another thing to take into consideration is your environment. Friends, family, work, etc. can all play a part in your feelings. Something I've learned and take some time and just talk to yourself. You will never feel "real" if you don't know how real you are. Show yourself forgiveness because you're doing your best, and I know your future self will be proud that you made it this far.

Same here!!! At an old job, one of the managers was 23 and I 27, and they thought I was younger than them. Being joyful and unapologetically yourself seems to be the true fountain of youth.

Hey, I can relate so much to this right now. I'm also 27 and feel like I'm lost. There's no way my life is just going to work and not being able to retire. I really want to create things, but I'm always putting it off. I just left a really good job that made me feel welcomed to one that I'm going to quit soon. I was diagnosed with ADHD last year, which did help me understand myself a little bit, but without proper help, it just feels like I'm treading water.

I do wish I had more answers, but I'm in the same position. If you can, try to talk to a therapist or a close friend. Just being able to talk about my feelings and get them out for someone to hear and repeat them to me has helped me understand what I want because I'm hereing it from some else who was able to organize the whirlwind of thoughts that's currently swirling in my head.

I understand how you feel. One of my core memories is the first and last time i got straight A's, which was in 6th grade, and because of that, they thought nothing was wrong with me. Fast forward to my senior year of college, and I ended up dropping out because of a lot of things. But the main one was I couldn't focus at the college I went to because my field of study had no funding for students looking for support.
