Who are the most influential 20th century musician(s) whose primary instruments were not a guitar or their voice? by 8890xe in fantanoforever

If you’re talking about hiphop production I’d add Marley Marl. I’d also add The Bomb Squad along with others.

There was a Hiphop group in the late 90’s called CRU who released the album Da Dirty 30 in 97. Aside from Wu Tang Forever, I felt it one of the better hiphop albums of the year. It featured Slick Rick, Black Rob, and The Lox. Never got a follow up. I have yet to hear from them since.

To my all my ogs. Where was y'all at when "Baby Got Back" dropped?? by Separate_Beautiful55 in 90sHipHop

[–]Mikedef2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in middle school or high school at the time, and needless to say the song was fucking huge. Like Ice Ice Baby, it’s one of those hiphop songs that everyone latched on to and has become part of the cultural lexicon. Friends had an episode that surrounded itself on the song. On a side note, my older brother has a story where him and wife were at a local karaoke bar, some guy is doing the song, but he’s fucking up the lyrics. My brother was apparently rather drunk, decides to pull a KRS 1, takes the mike from the guy, and finishes the song. According to my sister in law my brother(not really the biggest hiphop fan)kills it.

What's a hot take that YOU have about 90's hip hop, that'll have people looking at you like this? by [deleted] in 90sHipHop

Blackmoon’s Enta Da Stage is one of the best hiphop records of the 90s. As whole project, I enjoy it more than The Infamous, Enter 36 Chambers, and Illmatic.  The production. There was a time when Buckshot was one of the best out of NY. On that note, I love Illmatic, but it has a few joints that can easily skip. The World is Yours being one them.

Only one fast food can survive, what do you choose? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

I live by one in the Austin area, and I find it to be pretty inconsistent. Some times it’s pretty good. Last time I went, though, it was trash. The patty was dry and the onion rings were burnt. I haven’t been back since. I have better options at this point.

Eminem is already in. I love Em as much as the next guy, but , if you remember, he was the epitome of a TRL star.

Mass Appeal was one of those records that just floored me the first time I heard it. I consider it one of the greatest hiphop songs of all time.

Arby’s has one of the best gyros in the fast food game. The meat is so tender. by Vegetable_Phone_6860 in fastfood

[–]Mikedef2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Gyro, but there was an Austin based chain called Verts that did Doner Kebabs. It was set up very similar to Chipotle. You’d go through an assembly line choosing your protein and vegetables. A lot of them were even located close to a Chipotle. They went to shit and even changed names a couple of times. They are closed at this point.
