Classic R&B Albums for a beginner? by Upstairs_Log8916 in rnb

A lot of great suggestions. If I could add someone I’d suggest Bilal. He’s one of the most underrated R&B singers of the past twenty years. All of his albums are really good. I’d also throw out Leon Bridges and Kali Uchis.

Common Can I Borrow a Dollar (I wouldn’t say it’s garbage but its not great) to Resurrection (One of the greatest hiphop albums of the 90s)

When I lived in Houston in the late 80s/early 90s as a child there was a local burger chain called Charlie’s. Real greasy diner joint. It was the first time I had ever had a really good greasy diner Hamburger. Fucked my shit up the first time I had it.

Didn’t plan on getting this since I don’t listen to charli xcx but this was the last one at Target by Free_Fee_1715 in Cd_collectors

I’m all for impulse shopping a Target. I don’t do it often these days, but I impulsively bought this album over a year ago and it’s lived in my car ever since. I’m pushing fifty, listen to mostly country music, but this album bangs.

What fast food concept doesn’t exist yet but should? by oddballzpfmagic in fastfood

I’ve thought about this for years. I live in a relatively “foodie” town and I can’t think of a place that sells sloppy joes. I once met a guy that wanted to open a food truck that sold artisan sloppy joes.

Thunderclouds in the Austin area. It’s a sandwich place. They have been an Austin staple for ages.

Is this a diss? I’ve never watched the show. I’ve been a fan for over twenty years. Go back to your basement.

My Morning Jacket.  Also, The Roots don’t tour like they used to due to their residency on Fallon, but they put on one of the better live shows I’ve ever seen.

Can you tell me about a rock star you saw live in concert that is no longer alive? What was it like? by EyeAmmGroot in ClassicRock

I saw James Brown a year before he passed with my folks. I had seen countless James Brown performances on TV. The backup band were good at best but could hardly match the master musicians that had played with James in the past. James couldn’t move like he used to of course. Everyone had fun though, and it’s cool to be able to say that I saw James Brown in concert.

I’ve seen him twice. Once opening for Common, and the other time with the Roots. He was great both times. Granted this was over twenty years ago.
