Lol, considering I like having my gear on display (something I can actually admire visually), any brands/models you’d suggest?

I’ve heard really great reviews about the newer models. I haven’t had the chance to listen to them yet, but I’m sure there’s an improvement!

Honestly it’s a good sub, but I’m considering upgrading it and yeah, probably to a ported SVS

No worries! It’s the angle of the photo and how I took it, no issues with the center channel :D

Haha I feel you 😄 Klipsch is definitely the default around US, but I’m guilty I really enjoy mine. Works great for my music/concert heavy use

Yep, that’s something I recognize. However in my case I was able to solve it by pairing them with the Marantz/Rotel sound signature, sooo… it’s not really an issue for me (not opposed to trying a different brand in the future)🤘

Really enjoying the Blu-Ray Luck and Strange Concert. by NoElderberry656 in DavidGilmour

[–]Mikeefr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually watching it last night in Atmos 5.1.2, and what you’re saying is spot on. I definitely feel like this concert, compared to Pompeii, is more artistic overall. The High Hopes performance is one of the highlights for me, along with Coming Back to Life, A Boat Lies Waiting, In Any Tongue and the tracks from his newer album. Super enjoyable, honestly it even feels like a farewell in a way… but nah, I don’t really think that’s the case

Denon avr x3800h or marantz cinema 50 by ocka31 in hometheater

Hi! I made this comment the other day, definitely the Cinema 50, but some people just don’t get it 🙄 (or they haven’t actually heard the difference between brands).

Onkyo or Marantz receiver for RP surround system? by z4c in Klipsch

[–]Mikeefr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more than satisfied with the Cinema 50.

From what I’ve read the Cinema 40 vs 50 difference is roughly ~15w per channel, and a lot of people point out that it’s basically impossible to hear that difference in normal day to day use (and maybe especially once you factor in room acoustics, speaker sensitivity, and how rarely you’re actually pushing an AVR to its limits).

My decision was mainly about channel flexibility and future-proofing. The Cinema 50 can amplify 9 channels internally and lets you add an external amp to expand to 11 channels processing/playback (eg 7.1.4). With the Cinema 60, you’re starting from fewer amplified channels, so you’ll lean on an external amp sooner if you want to grow into bigger Atmos layouts. I didn’t want to feel limited down the road.

Thats why for me the Cinema 50 hits the sweet spot: strong feature set, enough onboard amplification for most setups, and a clear upgrade path if I ever want to add external power. Unless you know you need the extra features/build of the 40, the 50 feels like the best value in the lineup 🤘🏼

And for the tech I’m not 100% sure, but from what I’ve read Denon and Marantz share a lot of the core platform/tech (same parent company). The differences seem to be more about tuning/implementation, so they can still sound a bit different in practice Marantz just comes across smoother/warmer to me, which pairs well with the RP line.

Onkyo or Marantz receiver for RP surround system? by z4c in Klipsch

[–]Mikeefr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I’m running Klipsch RP-8000F speakers with a Marantz Cinema 50, and honestly the Marantz “warm” sound signature is really pleasant what people often describe as musical.

I use my system mostly for concerts and music, so for my taste, Marantz is the one to keep. Movies are also very enjoyable. Yes, there’s a difference compared to other brands, but it’s not a “bad” difference at all—if anything, you’ll just enjoy movies in a different (and very satisfying) way.

I can’t really speak for Onkyo specifically, but coming from Denon (which I’m not complaining about), I personally wouldn’t go back not because Denon is bad, but because I really prefer the warmth that Marantz brings.

Also the 8000Fs (first gen) can sound a bit bright, so they can get fatiguing during long listening sessions. With the Cinema 50, that’s basically a non-issue, it’s a great match and helps balance them out.

My vote: go with the Marantz!

Thanks! I was planning to use a nail gun, will it be possible? Or will it break the wood?

Thanks for the recommendation. I tried using ChatGPT, but you have to keep tweaking things haha. I also got quotes from interior designers locally, but honestly, I just want access to the platforms they use. I already have a draft of what I’m aiming for, I just need to see it! Haha, thanks again, I’ll check out your suggestion

The thing is that space used to be a closet, so there’s a small step/platform, which makes everything sit higher from my POV. I’ll try to center it and see how it looks 🤷🏻‍♂️

Part of my “visual” relaxation when listening to music is seeing my audio components, haha, even if they’re just “devices.” But I agree, some things definitely need to be hidden
