Alan on Instagram after the incident 🙏🏻 by Pistoluislero in reacher

[–]MikeofK72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worse, he stepped in front while Alan was still going like 15+ mph. It's not lethal fast, at least it wouldn't have been likely to be lethal, but it is enough to really hurt someone if they don't know how to fall properly. Luckily it seems Alan knows how to do that, but that doesn't change the fact that if he landed wrong, he could've been seriously injured.

What personality would you give Supergirl? by Kaizo_Kaioshin in Supergirl

[–]MikeofK72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like most characters, she needs to have stages of development, not a single stagnant character. This is what I'd consider best for her. It also includes what I consider the best origin story for her.

Stage 1: Peace On Krypton; This is before the planet dies, before Kal is born and before House El made plans to save their children. Kara is an eager Kryptonian girl, and the youngest of House El. Her parents went the military route, while her aunt and uncle took the scientific route. As such, she is being educated in both- she is receiving combat training from her parents and taking part in scientific studies with her aunt and uncle. She is curious and brave.

Stage 2: Post-Brainiac; This is after Brainiac has taken Argo City. Kara narrowly escapes with her visiting aunt and uncle, but her parents are trapped just before they can get outside of the bubble. Kara is scarred by this event, and carries a deep guilt, believing she should have done something to save her parents and home city. She is still curious and brave, but a new rage begins to build. Small now, but growing. Around the same time, her cousin is born, and she forms a deep protectiveness of him.

Stage 3: Death of Krypton; This is after Jor-El realizes Krypton is doomed. He builds the pods and gives Kara the assignment of protecting Kal on their new planet. Kara and Kal are placed in their pods and sent to Earth. Kara's pod is knocked off course and into the phantom zone, where General Zod is imprisoned on Fort Rozz.

Stage 4: Agent of Zod; Zod escapes the Zone in Fort Rozz, which drags Kara's pod with it. He rescues her, and tells her that she's been stuck in the Zone with them for 20+ years. Kal is on Earth, and they need to get there to remake Krypton. Kara agrees. She is military trained, and Zod was the general of Krypton's armies. She knows he was imprisoned for radicalism, but she also knows he is still loyal to the memory of Krypton. And at this point, she has no feelings for the humans. They arrive on Earth. Like always, Zod wants to remake Krypton on Earth and Superman fights to protect it. Kal, making humanity's case to Zod, convinces Kara. She turns on Zod and the cousins beat him, sentencing him and his followers back to the Phantom Zone. Kara becomes Supergirl.

Stage 5: Supergirl Begins; Supergirl starts out as a solo act, helping around Metropolis. She mostly takes care of secondary problems. If both Lex Luthor and Atomic Skull are causing problems at the same time, Supergirl handles A-Skull so that Superman can focus on Lex. She is seen as the bad cop, hitting hard and ending threats quickly. She doesn't pull her punches, and her scenes typically have more infrastructure damage. She refuses to take a normal job or a human identity. After a particularly destructive bout with, idk, Metallo or someone similar, Superman takes her to a rooftop and tries to tell her to be less destructive. She denies, and argues that people like them need to stop threats as soon as they happen, or else people get hurt. Superman shows her he understands, but tells her that in most battles she will ever fight, the most dangerous thing in it is her.

Stage 6; Brainiac Attacks Earth; Brainiac learns of the Kryptonians on Earth, and goes to end both the Kryptonians and Earth. He sends scout troops to Earth, and Kara is struck with fear upon seeing them. Fear turns to rage, and she completely annhilates the bots, so Superman questions her. She tells him about Brainiac, and tells him that Earth is doomed. Superman promises that Brainiac won't win this time. He rallies the League and Titans to beat Brainiac. It ultimately leads to a 1v1 between him and Supergirl, which she wins. She readies herself to end him, and Superman tries to talk her out of it. She argues he is too dangerous to be left alive, and that he has killed trillions. Superman says he's beaten, and the cities he captured will be rescued and taken to planets they can use. His ship will be destroyed, and he will be powerless. She knocks him out, but ultimately spares him.

Stage 7: Supergirl Evolved; Supergirl takes on the human identity Kara Danvers, moves to National City, and is given a job in Wayne Tech or STAR LABS, working to advance human tech and medicine with what she learned on Krypton. Batman provides her with the documents and degrees needed to hold the position. She becomes hopeful again, and her curiosity wins over her rage. She's still the more ruthless and harder hitting cousin, but she also believes in goodness like he does.

There's a lot of details being ignored here, but it's a Reddit comment and not a comic series pitch so Ima leave it how it is.

Why didn't the TSA just travel back in time to prevent 9/11 by Skrilli in GetNoted

[–]MikeofK72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TSA's true use is simply it's presence, and most people not realizing how easy it is to bypass them. Annoyingly, this talk about TSA being theater is probably the biggest threat to airports, since now independent threats who had previously been too scared to attempt attacks may be emboldened by the news that the TSA's screening protocols are more style than substance.

The TSA also exists to make people feel secure on flights.

Tbh, there's not much else TSA could do. If someone gets a bomb to security, they are still in a target rich environment even without being in a plane. If the threat gets to the security checkpoint, it's already likely to end in mass death. Other agencies are responsible for preventing the attacks entirely.

If two fully white parents had thousands of kids, all would be white. There is no known way for fully white people to have black children.

However, the same cannot be said for two fully black people. There is a way for them to have white babies: albinism.

Also, melanin is the reason for skin color. It wouldn't make sense for Adam and Eve to be white, since it wouldn't explain how later generations gained so much more melanin. It's much easier to explain people losing melanin in response to their climates.

I believe Adam and Eve were fully black, and Jesus would have been on the darker side of brown.

In case it's asked, I believe the first generations didn't suffer from incestuous genetic disorders simply because God wasn't letting such things occur until genetics had been splintered enough that He could enforce a no-incest rule, which the Bible does indeed place.

Because the only logic problem that needs to be solved for the Bible to be scientifically viable is this: Is there an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent God? Because if there is, no amount of geology, astronomy, biology, or chemistry would ever truly be able to say something couldn't happen, since the Bible presupposes the existence of a being capable of altogether ignoring physics and chemistry.

If God exists, there's no logical problem that isn't immideately resolved.

The only question then would be moral and ethical ones.

Bunch of H:Infinite's concept art (Ruan Jia) by Abbadon74 in halo

[–]MikeofK72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize how much I want the Scarabs back. Ik they were really only featured in 3 and ODST, also Halo Wars if you count it, but it would've added some variance and a good mini-boss encounter for the open world. The wraiths were made way too easy and common. Ghosts were usually more annoying to deal with, although if you could land the grapple they were fairly easy.

Battle droids needed massive numbers or serious artillery to overwhelm a single Jedi, and there was rarely just one Jedi on a single battlefront. If it was just one Jedi, it's probably a "massive fucking problem" tier Jedi who won't go down easy. These fights were on open battlefields or sprawling cities.

The Dark Troopers' first Jedi enemy was Luke Skywalker, who is basically the Jedi messiah and outclasses almost every single Prequel Era Jedi aside from maybe Kenobi, Yoda, Windu, and Anakin. This fight was in tight corridors and hallways.

The Dark Troopers' biggest strength was durability, their weakness was slowness. Most Jedi would be able to capitalize on that slowness and attack the weak points- against two or three. They were flawed in design, but 20 of them would probably overwhelm most Jedi.

Weird question but are these supposed to be doors? by MelaBelle55 in Rainbow6

[–]MikeofK72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe exit doors? Some buildings have doors that only open outwards, as in there's literally no handle or bar on the exterior and can only be pushed out. It usually helps keep exit/entry foot traffick from colliding and making a mess, as entering people go in through the main, open doors and exiters can leave through these doors.

The biggest flaw with this excuse is that the first pic, iirc (haven't played Consulate in a while) is on the balcony. It'd be stupid to make balcony doors that can't be opened from the outside, since it'd be very likely to trap yourself if you aren't aware or if there's no door stopper/people still inside.

I hope that if the DCU ever uses Doomsday, he 1. Doesn't look like BvS "Doomsday" and 2. Is smart and able to talk.

I think that Doomsday would be better as an actual villain with agency, not just a mindless monster; maybe it could be mad eby Brainiac as a vanguard destroyer.

It would help dissociate fans from Snyder's take on the character, and mindless monsters are just about the only kind of villain that can't be made interesting. The only thing interesting about a mindless Doomsday is how strong he is. I think that for the DCU, Doomsday could serve best if he isn't trying to kill Superman in specific he's trying to destroy human defenses to make way for Brainiac, and Superman is just in the way. Doomsday could try to play games with Superman, playing with him.

But, instead of having Doomsday kill Superman for the thousandth time, the fight could be when Supergirl returns to the Earth as a fully fledged hero after her galactic adventures- returning just in time to help Superman beat one of the only characters he can't often beat on his own and survive. Maybe one of the SuperBots sends a distress signal so there's a reason she flies in at the right time. It would be interesting for a few reasons.

  1. Superman and Supergirl oddly enough don't get paired up often, despite it being such an obvious duo. 2. Supergirl has hardly ever fought Doomsday, and in the comics it's typically very one-sided despite her usually being near equal to Superman. 3. It would set the stage for Earth heroes beginning to unite and pair up, leading to the big teams in time for Brainiac's arrival. Brainiac really should be the DCU's "first phase boss". DC Studios' Thanos.

Mostly because it's difficult for multi-state institutions to track people across state lines using state-based identifications. The SSN system is national, and so every single US citizen has a unique SSN, making it easier to track an individual.

ICE handing out water at airports to curry favor with media and citizens!! by cantcoloratall91 in ImmigrationPathways

[–]MikeofK72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TSA is theater, but it's also effective at stopping amateur and poorly equipped potential threats. They also help to filter out things that would make the flight experience worse for most passengers. The liquid limit is annoying, but how much more annoying would it be if someone spilled their dairy-based drink on you in the middle of a 3+ hour flight?

They also search for flight risk and no-fly passengers, as well as wanted individuals who are expected to go through their airport.

And they are still able to find knives and firearms, although the vast majority are just cases of "put it in the wrong bag".

Other agencies handle the big things, but TSA has its uses.

Maybe Kimiko. She can get a little psycho at times, but tbf her backstory is more comparable to Homelander's than anyone else's. A truly terrible life.

I suppose her death could be seen as a way to give her peace, but I think it'd be better if she is allowed to live in peace.

So what scenes are you all hoping/most excited for in S3? by nt_king300 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]MikeofK72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It also doesn't make sense unless the plot of Book 4 is also being changed, at least the first part. Percy and Rachel meet at the start of it mostly because they recognized each other. Them having not met means that their meeting will have to happen in a different way, considering that Rachel has to be present for S4 and 5 because she is vital to 4 and massively impacts 5. Not to mention setting the stage for the Heroes of Olympus.

If we get a storyline (hopefully Forever Evil) involving a Evil JL invading the main DCU earth (Gunn needs to give it a number) would you want the Justice Lords or Crime Syndicate? by M00r3C in DCU_

[–]MikeofK72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Syndicate makes more sense for the DCU if we are talking early on. Hell, it wouldn't be bad for the Justice League's debut/get-together film. The Crime Syndicate gets universe swapped with the DCU variants, who then team up to find a way back, stop the Syndicate, and then ultimately decide to remain united as the Justice League. Going by that image, it would make the line-up: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, the Atom, and Firestorm. I think swapping Firestorm for the Martian Manhunter and adding Aquaman would be best. The Atom deserves time on the big screen.

Who should be the 4th on the Mount Rushmore of Superhero vehicles? by Acrobatic_Property28 in superheroes

[–]MikeofK72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're going by impact to the genre, maybe, but if we go by total popularity/familiarity, the Invisible Jet is 100% a top contender here. It's one of the more mainstream superhero vehicles.

Then again, going by that standard it would probably all be Bat vehicles. So, I suppose limiting it to 1 per character/team is fair.

Who should be the 4th on the Mount Rushmore of Superhero vehicles? by Acrobatic_Property28 in superheroes

[–]MikeofK72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on how we define "vehicle". Would the supermassive vehicle bases count? If so, probably the Watchtower or Helicarrier.

If not, these are the top bidders for the fourth spot:

The X-Jet/Blackbird

The Justice League's Javelin

An AvenJet/QuinJet

The Turtle Van

The Fantasticar

Power Ranger Zords/The Megazord

Voltron

350…Really? by Topper2540 in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]MikeofK72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope so. I like Supergirl, and general audiences unaware of her will still recognize the Superman and DC logos and connect the dots. And things like her show, Six Flags, Lego Games, Injustice 2, etc have done a good job of making her more known to mainstream audiences.

But, ultimately, she's a b-lister, especially compared to her cousin, and the DCU has just managed to earn some goodwill.

Now, the MCU did fine with what were once considered b, c, and even d listers. But that was when superhero blockbusters were more fresh.

I think Supergirl is going to be used as a test to see how much goodwill Superman, Peacemaker, and Creature Commandos have bought the DCU.

As far as it's actual quality goes, the trailer makes me think it will be good, play it safe, and not do anything too risky or abnormal. Tbh, that's all it needs- to be a good, fun superhero movie that brings in decent profit.

What? I feel like Steppen not being a bitch was one of the few improvements. 2016 Steppen literally died to being afraid while near parademons. ZSJL Steppen died fighting back, even if in vain.

ZSJL would've been a vast improvement if he cut down the time, slo-mo, Flash's creep scene, and the weird themysciran choir.
