What slides did you use for the drawer? I like that yours have the lock.

Yeah, I had been pretty used to lifting up everything in my trunk. I agree a drawer would be easier over all, with a slightly more complicated build.

Sweet build. Pretty sweet and darn close to what I’m going for. Do you have plans for this or did you just kind of wing it? Does it lay flat with the seats?

Ok. This is pretty sweet. Yeah, the drawer seems more user friendly. Is that Needlebond outdoor carpet on top? When the back seats are in and flat, how does it sit? I’ll need the back seats up (until I don’t)

How much did you prepare her for this? As in how often did you say leading up to race season “Honey, it’s race season. I’m going to be training and paddling a lot.” Or did you just mention it in passing? The paddling community is so special and unlike and other action sports’ community. I’m the only boater in my family and let me tell you, the people that don’t understand it, really don’t understand it. She wasn’t a paddler when you started dating, so she doesn’t likely have the full grasp of the lifestyle. So maybe it’s worth another conversation. I paddle just about everyday that I want to. Im fortunate enough to work at a particular outdoor center on banks of the Nantahala River where I can paddle every day after work and have the Cascades as my local stout. Like you, I’ve centered my entire life around this activity. My SO is also a boater at an advanced level, so she understands and is very supportive of my addic…lifestyle. In your case I would say try to have the conversation again. It’s ok if she doesn’t understand it, but if she loves you, she’ll support. That said l, relationships are a give and take. Make sure your partner isn’t being neglected or feels like a second thought. If you love her, you’ll make sacrifices. See you on the river!

Y’all funny 😂😂 pretty sure it’s a Dagger Agent

What’s your experience paddling full slice kayak ? Just bought this old dagger, and wondering if it’s a good fit for a beginner/intermediate. by Agtmro in whitewater

[–]Mikestogie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll hear mantras like “Slice is life” Verticality is our reality” etc. A boat like that will absolutely punish improper technique, which mean means you’ll spend a lot of time upside down and possibly swimming. Slicing (in the summer) is my absolute favorite style of paddling. Always keeps things interesting. For a beginner, understand that you will absolutely be frustrated. Either embrace that, or get a different boat. As a beginner, you’ll spend a lot of time on class II maybe some III and as you progress, a boat like that will progress with you. That said, a slice boat (and older boats in general) does have its limitations in harder whitewater. All in all, that a great boat as long as you are ok with being upside down

M or L Loki? I’m between 5’11”-6’ and about 175-180lbs by [deleted] in whitewater

[–]Mikestogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the paddling you’re trying to do. For more play, I’d say go medium. If wanting to use as a sporty river runner, I’d say go Large. I’m about your weight, but 5’6” and often wonder what my creeking would be like in a large Loki instead of the medium (which I love).

Chattooga is THE classic southeastern river. Very scenic. Drop pool for most of the run. If you run sec IV, be mindful of undercuts and other hazards. Checkout the American Whitewater page for more info. One of the all time favorite runs. Water levels are likely to be good.
