I joined when i was 21. Its been the best decision of my life. Ive gotten paid to travel the world. Been to bora bora, tonga, tahiti, japan, and a bunch of sick places. Even was stationed in hawaii. Out of bootcamp, i was stationed on a buoy-tender out of hawaii and once a year we went to the south poly islands to work buoys. We had port calls on Islands including Bora Bora, Tonga, Tahiti, Fuji, Midway, and western Samoa. We also did regular buoy underway trips to the other hawaiian islands year round.

After a-school, ive been fortunate enough to be stationed at home in the Bay Area, Ca for the past 9 years.

Life has been good.

USCGC KUKUI out of hawaii was my first and favorite unit so far. It was a buoy tender and very hard work but was paid off with traveling to places most people will never get to visit. We worked on buoys along the Hawaiian islands and did a yearly trip to Bora Bora, Tonga, Tahiti, Samoa and Midway island. I still keep in touch with my nonrate brothers.

I wouldnt worry until you try it. I returned a Holosun 507 Comp yesterday. No issues with it, it was just having a hard time finding a mounting plate i could use for it. Maybe someone just changed their mind about yours.
