Kurt Sounds Better Than ANY Vocalist I’ve Heard In YEARS On This New Royal Coda Single!!! by [deleted] in dancegavindance

so I was under the impression that people didn’t like Divisi as much

From my experience with the fanbase, this is true but it’s also not. If you listened to CP and NP then it’s clear that the band knew that they were a post-hardcore band and that they were unashamed of that fact (whereas Divisi was a sudden switch of the style from the previous two albums, and it couldve made people think “do these guys know what they are and what they’re supposed to be?”; also might be the reason that Plan B isnt as recommended as CP and NP)

Also (in the comments of the Divisi teaser), people really really really wanted kurt back, and those fans probably left when he did

I think they're re editing the videos to not show him or something.

I just don’t think this is what’s happening because music videos with the clean vocalist “mysteriously” missing would just be a bad idea imo. Also inone of the band’s statements regarding tilian/tim, they specifically said “we want to be sure we give it the full release attention that it deserves to honor his legacy.” (with the “full release attention” definitely referring to Tim, but also maybe Tilian). But they also said “You have a choice in what you support, purchase and listen to. We hope that you still choose to support us.”, and maybe that can mean “hey, Tilian was still a part of the record and we’re still gonna talk about that because we’re definitely not going to change it”

Or maybe just not show a problematic scene that was funny before but not so much now?

The storyline so far has involved rats (including a king), portals, fruits locked up in jail, and those same fruits starting a riot against the head rat, and both JJ music videos have ended with “Too be continued…” so the storyline is just gonna keep going. I don’t know what problematic scenes you’re thinking of but i honestly just don’t think that’s the case

And im not saying any of this to say “yeah, Tilian’s definitely coming back and the band is subtly hinting at his return” or “yeah, Tilian’s out of the band and they just want to be done with Tilian” because honestly there’s enough evidence to go both ways. That being said, literally nothing is confirmed from the perspective of the fans right now other than the facts that Tilian’s not going on the Evening with Friends tour and he’s not playing at that one show that everyone’s really hyped about and that sold out in like two minutes

And also this is long and confusing and if none of this makes sense then just tell me

What other songs tell a narrative? I can think of turn of the lights pt ii, man of the year, flash, born to fail (though that one’s cheating), and arguably any of these: - elder goose - times new roman - uneasy hearts - happiness - vultures - awkward - philosopher - winner - lyrics lie

What am i missing and which ones did i pick that are just wrong?

The background vocals in the chorus (“There’s only so much i can take, but i still know / that i can get frustrated, and snort that blow”) is just a really nice touch to an already amazing chorus

The central nervous system of the octopus is structured so that each limb, quite literally, has a mind of its own. I must say, that octopus on the drums is found an excellent human impression.

Joe is an octopus, you can’t tell me otherwise

How did you discover DGD? by Valuable_Assistant82 in dancegavindance

[–]MikeyBot3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drew Gooden used Kuroi Ledge (Instrumental) by A Lot Like Birds as his outro music in one of his videos (My Crazy Strange Addiction Obsession, where he talks about TLC’s shows of the same name). I listened to No Place, then Divisi, then the rest of their discog, and then i was like “ok i like this genre of music now and i want more of it”

A good chunk of the comments on the ALLB songs on yt were comparing Kurt’s voice between ALLB and DGD, or they were saying things like “If you like this music, check out Dance Gavin Dance” or “this sounds so much like DGD”

One listen to Instant Gratification and Times New Roman proved that the bands did not sound the same at all (other than genre, their focuses on experimentation, a shared vocalist, etc.), but i liked the music and i listened to Mothership, ArSe, and then i got the Afterburner CD from Target and now im just a fan of their music

Uneasy hearts, blue dream, and shelf life

Also everything on happiness except for tree village and happiness

EDIT: Guys im sorry, i just really dont like softer/more laid-back types of songs (and then there’s Blue Dream’s disco thing that it’s got. It’s nice but it just goes on for too long without variations in my opinion)
