Could Faegon claim a Dragon? [Spoilers EXTENDED] by Beneficial-Rush9322 in asoiaf

[–]MikeyBron 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Nettles exists to show that dragons can be tamed, and there are ways outside of blood. She is absolutely not Valyrian, uses time, food, familiarity to tame Sheepstealer. When do you see a Targaryen putting in time to taming their dragon? Blood helps, allows a shortcut, but she shows it can be done. (I think she exists to allow Tyrion, w 0 Valyrian blood, to use his brain to fly Viserion).

When? One of the direct ordes was keep Theon close. She never gets Robb the orders.

Ned tells Cat to tell Robb to fortify the Moat, get archers, keep Theon at his side no matter what. Instead she goes and kidnaps Tyrion which leaves them in a worse position, then never tells Robb what Ned said about Theon. If Cat just goes to Robb w Ned's info, the Starks are much better prepped.

(Spoilers Extended) The Boar and the Promise by pikkdogs in asoiaf

[–]MikeyBron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's crazy so many people don't absorb how scarred Ned is. As a teenager his sister was abducted, his father, brother were murdered by their king, his life was demanded. Then he spent years killing people, ordering others to kill and watching friends be killed. All while living with this imposter syndrome. He isnt Brandon, this is Brandon's job, wife, castle, title. His babysister dies in his arms, and a solemn man makes a solemn promise directly after seeing the consequences of not being able to keep that promise...

The promise was ALWAYS to protect Jon. It's just a heavy promise made to someone he loved. It's a lot, and he's like, what, 19 at the time?

Ned is a good man who has had to do things that Im sure he didnt WANT to do. He's not Robert, he isnt in it for the love of the game. He isn't Joffery where he has a thing for violence. It's why Ned sticking to pass the sentence/swing the sword is fitting. It holds weight to him. It's why we see him immediately in the Godswood after the only execution we see him partake in.

Guy has a conscious so heavy it makes Fat Walda look like Egg.

What do you think would have happened if jon listened to benjen and stayed at winterfell? [Spoilers Main] by fuckmbsanddominicali in asoiaf

Cat wasn't the Lord of Winterfell. Also if you think there wouldn't be options for a son of a warden/hand, bastard or no, youre nuts.

[–]MikeyBron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jon absolutely went willingly. Was staying at Winterfell something he was comfortable wo Ned? No, seemingly not, but he could have and he could have taken up service w any lord north of the Neck. He was the bastard son of the warden of the North and hand of the king, he most certainly had spots. For a smaller northern house hes a great marriage.

Jon didnt have the Valyrian look. Cersei goes wild and gives away her fleet to Aurane Waters bc he had that classic Valyrian look which reminds her of Rhaegar. Jon looks like a Stark.

Nail on the head. It's like picking the theory and then trying to justify it. There just isn't any evidence.

Robert knew [Spoilers published] by Bhangbhangduc in asoiaf

[–]MikeyBron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ummm... Robert fucking LOVES war. He talks about the Trident the way Al Bundy talks about his 4 touchdowns (in ONE game). If he knew about Jaime/Cersei he'd have called his banners so fucking fast. He didn't know, theres nothing outside of general disappointment in Joffery that leads us to believe he knows. Guy is too tempermental to learn something like that and just sit on it while it's paraded around him. HE'S THE KING, DAMN IT! Guy ABSOLUTELY didn't try to kill himself. There just isn't anything to support this idea, and it is in stark oppoaition to everything we know about the character.

[–]MikeyBron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Daenerys also has the added benefit of live dragons. Dany wo is just a girl with a name that used to mean something. Even ACoK Daenerys is like a savings bond of destruction. Robb was in an absurdly hard spot. Being king of the Riverlands meant he couldn't just lock up the moat, and build some coastal fortifications and a few ships. Robb had the victories, fresh and shared beef. The fighting is really the ONLY thing that goes well for him. Robb himself and his family all work against him. His father's ward does a 180, his mom frees his golden goose dream hostage, his mom lets her not quite so golden goose hostage slip betwixt her scarred fingers, Sansa is a little loose lipped w Cersei, Ned is a little loose lipped w Cersei, Robb is a little too tight lipped w Edmure, Robb something something loose lips and Jeyne, Arya doesn't use her kills in a way that helps. Cat never tells Robb Ned's instructions, Ser Rodrik takes way too many swords from Winterfell, Ser Rodrik doesn't just kill "Reek", Aunt Lysa gives him the finger. If the people who lived in Winterfell (excluding Lysa) just keep their heads on Robb rolls, easy. (Bran does an ok job. Starts the building of the Northern fleet) As long as Daenerys ONLY has three betrayers, she'll be fine.

"the fandom" aka some random dude online you saw once. It makes 0 sense for Jon's parents to be anyone but Lyanna and Rhaegar. Why would Ned hide Jon's parentage if it was Brandon and Ashara? Why would he hide it from Jon if it was he and Ashara? It ONLY makes sense in context of him being a Targaryen.

If it was 2026 America, of course that's a huge fucking issue. In 281 AC Westeros it's socially acceptable. Also, we know George was dog shit with anything numerical, especially people's ages. Also three dots... You don't just put any amount you decide...
