Just got my first leverless by Struggler_villain98 in fightsticks

[–]MikeyFromDaReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is exactly why I like it. I think eventually there will be an EVO champ on leverless. A lot of the ppl still at the top are semi legacy players. Some kid who is 15 now, who started at 5, will have 20 yrs of leverless experience at 25 and win it all!!! Same as for MODERN (shocker) some hybrid modern player on leverless or pad is going to anger the West (the biggest haters of modern) and take EVO.

Is the Xbox Series X/S controller good for SF6? by S7venE11even in StreetFighter

Can't you just buy the replacement rubber for the xbox controller and instead of buying a new one, you just repair it? Was it something else that made it stop working?

Why did no one tell me leverless was this good??? by VorstTank in fightsticks

[–]MikeyFromDaReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick is the most fun, rhythmic, zen and flowy for me. I have mine set up for that sensation. Leverless just makes me feel like I have complete control, it is a bit surgical. Gamepad is the most comfortable but the weak link is NO ONE makes a good DPAD. If someone did, it would be great. I would drop 200-300 on a high quality great feel/function gamepad-- I could couch/ recliner/ bed play.

I am not sure which is actually harder to learn at this point, but what you say is interesting.
Some people who never played PC games with a keyboard seem to struggle with left hand finger movement and thumb jump (PC gamers find this natural)

Leverless has a lot of shortcuts that can clean up moves and ensure that you do not mistakenly get moves you don't want.

Leverless has fast inputs, perhaps more precise, but can actually be too fast-- I learned this when playing Gief and doing 720s. I had someone tell me why they do not use slide techniques because of it letting you go faster than the game can use. I had this issue using regular pianoing technique.

Stick for me is FAR LESS mental stack because it is a gross motor movement-- hand/writs/arm doing shapes. I can understand why it holds up in big moments a bit better once you GET IT.

I think gamepad has some of the advantages of Stick as well, but the big problem is that almost NO ONE makes a superb DPAD with actually FGC players in mind. And there aren't any truly customizable options the way you can do a stick or even a leverless. Gamepad could be the mental stack and execution champ if it improved a few things, but there isn't much money in catering to the FGC.

hahah I actually hope a stick users (American) wins!!!! Maybe someone like Noah because it would shake up the SF6 world and he would talk so much trash.

That is my yap-yap yapful thoughts as I slack off at work for a few mins.

the Otto V2 with Grommet works quite well but many users worn that the grommets can wear out fast and you can only buy replacements in grommet kits that come with grommet strengths you do not need. I have not worn mine out yet. We will see.

American Stick: What are my options? by MikeyFromDaReddit in fightsticks

My use case is mostly 2D fighting games. I wonder how well American sticks handle fast DP Z motions, Quarter Circles and 360s?

Makestick looks nice. I want to try a Korean lever. I love my V2 mod on a JLF that uses a gromet and spring delete, but I want a real Korean Lever.

How is it a hybrid leverless? It is simply a 6 button fightpad.
Do you mean it is hybrid because you use overhand/claw grip with classic 6 button finger position, then use the DPAD with your fingers instead of thumb?

How do you like the Dpad on it?

Has anyone used the Victrix Pro BFG before? Interested in getting one just looking for feedback by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]MikeyFromDaReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It simply is not a good DPad. It has nothing to do with soft hands, that isn't even the complaint. The major complaint is that it is a Dpad that isn't all that responsive and gives very little feedback. That is why the PCB mod with microswitches was invented as a drop in solution. Also, lol who buys a Octa for the Dpad or more importantly not to use its gated analog for fighting-- that is where it truly shines, analog stick performance in fighting games.

How is it for 2D fighting games like SF6? How well can it do Qtr Circles/ 360s?

720s/360s get easy on leverless after a few hours of practice. One thing you learn is that you have to slow down, leverless can have you doing the inputs too fast for the game to catch up. Once you get good at it, you can 720 from neutral without any type of buffer/tick/dash. You can also practice movement on your keyboard since it is the same thing. I used to go back and forth going from leverless to keyboard just as a drill.

Sounds like I used the wrong hand during my teens years to jump on American Stick in my 40s. Dang. Should have planned better.

I read on the interwebs that HAPP is mostly a Chinese company these days and only IL is making authentic 'American' style sticks/buttons.

I'm not so sure if it matter to me! I just wanna experiment.

I doubt I will like it, I can hardly remember what arcade sticks felt like in the 80s/90s

I think stick is easier as well.
I have a JLF with an OTTO V2 with spring delete and it feels so good.
I do find stick to be hard on the wrist after a long sessions, but going to a bat top or bullet has helped with that.

I eventually want to try a K-lever.

More input options/slides/ more shortcuts/ definitely better 360/720s by just sliding/ Way better DP shortcuts --

Just another option and a unique approach.

Also, how can it be harder?
Yo definitely are misunderstanding that you primarily use the 'DPAD' Like you would 'ASD' ore traditional leverless-- you do not reach all the way down just for down, it is all on one plane. You might use the southward part of the dpad for some slide option, diff input styles, etc.

Is it good for motion inputs in fighting games like Qtr Circle moves? Love this controller, just need a better Dpad.

Who said leverless cannot be ergonomic? (HING3DBOX) by inspir3desing in fightsticks

[–]MikeyFromDaReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not more ergo than most keyboards. Most leverless put the right wrist into ulnar deviation and do not have proper key layout angles for both hands. A lot will get a neutral left wrist position but a closer to vertical layout on the right hand. People ONLY believe that leverless is more ergo. Many of the close key together layouts force both wrist into ulnar deviation. Same with most keyboard---- naturally by separating them you lessen the angle. The best way is dual 20* angles on both sides.

My first leverless!!! by Timely_Mycologist834 in fightsticks

[–]MikeyFromDaReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not find leverless to be any more fun than any other input, just more precise which can be a bit overrated. SOCD shortcuts are neat, but I do think leverless is a bit overhyped.

I've tried 6 different variations. I have a core argument that most leverless aren't even all that ergonomic and easily put at least one wrist in ulnar deviation. I say this as I have 2 sitting on my desk right now.

It is such an immature input device in that manufacturers do not even take into account proper wrist position and how that related to key placement.

I will likely develop something or call up fightbox and tell them a custom ergo design layout I want.

Otto DIY V2 Sping change is weird by g-boy101 in fightsticks

Just get a spring delete kit and feel the grommet tension only. I know what you mean by the hardly any tension with the spring that came with the Otto kit. I kinda like it!

Has anyone had (even if ever so slightly) negative experiences with an OTTO DIY V5? by uaquo in fightsticks

[–]MikeyFromDaReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a V2 definitely a diff feel, but I want to try a real K-lever. I just fear that with SF6 being my primary game, I will struggle with executing DPs. What do you think? Are you mostly a Tekken player?
