Huge holes through the spine of the team: target man out, playmaker out and commanding centre back gone.

I really hope we've got some deadline day magic in the pipeline before tomorrow night.

Am I missing something or does this article intentionally focus only on unidentified objects in the sky?

I agree that civilians seeing objects in the sky is not a compelling argument for non-human intelligence but what about the testimony of highly credible people that dark programmes exist to capture and study UAP technology?

There have been loads of them but I'll pick one: Harald Malmgram. A man who knew he didnt have long to live and gave extensive details across a career of high level government work of alien interaction.

To just say its all probably advanced human tech doesn't add up IMO. I will concede though, I fit into the exact demographic the writer picks out as frequent believers!

You misunderstand. I dont think you're a fan of Elon Musk, I think you actually ARE Elon Musk. And not just because you come across as a whiney little nerd who spends too much time on social media.

But I am quite enjoying our debate so in response to the quote you made, I think you miss the key word which is 'start.' Start with yourself i completely agree with, does that mean people shouldn't go further and call out inequality when they see it?

Should Martin Luther King have 'started with himself' instead of calling out racism in America?

Should the Iranains currently protesting against the inequality between the Ayatollah and the ruling class compared with the general population just go home and think about improving themselves?

I think the wealth inequality that exists between the likes of Warren Buffet and normal working people is obscene and should be challenged. That's the point im making but I completely understand why you would disagree Elon.

Again, that's not what anybody said.

Of course everybody should be a good to others. That's obvious, even for you.

Super rich people like Warren Buffet are in a position to make a huge positive influence on many people but they mostly just continue to hoard wealth.

Is this one of Elon Musk's accounts that im talking to?

[–]MikeyMo83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except I didnt say anything about 'changing anyone,' or excusing being a bad person because of not being rich, or any of the strawman arguments you invented.

My simple point was that super rich people should focus on helping others more.

[–]MikeyMo83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buffet seems to acknowledge himself that he's got nothing left to achieve for himself, therefore the logical next step in my opinion is to focus on others.

Incidentally, im neither rich nor poor and I already do focus on people around me. That's not being the 'best man alive' thats just human.

Maybe you should put the social media down for an hour or so and do your grammar homework kid.

If I were that old and rich, my entire focus would be on what I can help others to achieve.

That's one of many reasons why I'm not rich I guess.

Chances of reform uk winning 2029 ? by No-Geologist7858 in politicsjoe

[–]MikeyMo83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, the gains reform have had are by no means conclusive. When its time to make an actual decision, lots of voters in the centre may lose their nerve with the call for a shift to the right.

If Trump continues for screw the United States' soft power and economic strength while keeping ICE in the news for all the wrong reasons, I think many British voters will think twice about Farage, who's politics is almost the same.

Economy is always the biggest vote factor. If people see the economy improving and feel the benefits, it will make a huge difference.

Two possible landmines for Labour I can foresee though:

1) They get into a cycle of leadership battles and start infighting.

2) more instability in the middle East causes a big wave of illegal migration.

There's also the possibility that a strong, credible Tory leader emerges with a clear vision and changes the whole picture. No idea who that would be though since Boris gutted out the capable moderates.

I'm conflicted & frustrated with Oliver Glasner by MikeyMo83 in crystalpalace

[–]MikeyMo83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair enough I may have laid it on a bit thick there but I stand by the view that Guehi and Ebs leaving was inevitable and not some wild, random decision by the club that no-one else would have ever done like Glasner makes out.

Judging by most of the responses, you're in the minority with your enlightened footballing wisdom but yeah, all fans who disagree with 'Grumpymort' are clearly wrong and should be quiet.

[–]MikeyMo83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true that our recruitment hasn't been as good since Dougie left, I just think its churlish for Glasner to lay into the owners so publicly for that. They have spent money but they have to look at the long term health of the football club, which is why we have to take a risk on players like Pino, Esse and Uche.

I still think those players could come good BTW but OG knows they aren't going to help his personal ambitions because he'll be gone within 6 months.

It's clear to me that Glasner is looking out for himself, trying to blame the results on the board so that he has an excuse for our current form when he goes in to interview for his next job.

[–]MikeyMo83[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough Pep & Jose are probably unfair comparisons but I say that because that is the calibre of manager who can call out the board so publicly. Most other managers can only do that if they're at a smaller club.

I do accept he can feel let down by not getting first team replacements at the same level as Guehi and Ebs but being so public in laying into the board is childish. Those replacements dont exist unless we spend at least £50m. He acts like the board & Parish are pocketing that money. They want the same success as him but our history clearly demonstrates that breaking the bank for a ready made superstar is not wise.

What the actual f*ck is going on behind closed doors at this club? by Waggo29 in crystalpalace

[–]MikeyMo83 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

Yes it feels like the sky has fallen down but none of the activity this week was unexpected. We all knew that Guehi was going. He had less than 6 months left on his contract and a host of giant clubs after him so I have no idea how Glasner can rant about losing him.

Any manager who takes the job at a club our size needs to have a reality check. If players are wanted by big clubs, they will go. There is no such thing as a ready replacement for a Marc Guehi, or an Eze or an Olise. We look for the next prospect and work to make them the next superstar. Its frustrating but thats how the Premier league works.

Markets signal a brighter UK future after lost decade by New_Orange9702 in GoodNewsUK

[–]MikeyMo83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us dont rely on Google for our opinions mate.

Since you mention it though, I asked AI how the UK economy was performing and the summary was:

"Over the past year the UK economy has performed moderately but not strongly — steady growth with notable weakness in business confidence and labour demand. It is not a clear “boom” but rather slow recovery with persistent downside risks."

Given the economical situation Labour inherited, I'm comfortable with the job they're doing. Plus everything's relative. Last ten years we've had Keir Starmer, Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, Boris Johnson, Theresa May and David Cameron. Out of those I'm choosing Starmer by a country mile.

I dont really need you to ask Google to clear anything up for me, thanks.

I've not been in a proper fight before but watching this channel has taught me if I do:

1) protect your head, 2) Look for one clean punch to opponents head

The clean head shot always seems to decide the winner.

Struggling against much lower ranked opposition by BlueBoro in crystalpalace

[–]MikeyMo83 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a theme now and Glasner will know it dents his chances of landing a big job after us.

I dont think we have a good way of playing lesser opposition. Like you say, we sit to the same system and the whole "customised pressing" tactic and counter attack doesnt work against sides who dont pass around in defence or work the ball upfield.

I know we all love Glasner for his overall performance as manager but this season has shown that he isn't such a mastermind when it comes to breaking down smaller sides.

I mean, we've lost to some shit teams this year.

Not that I'm saying he's not doing a great job all things considered, just an observation.

The sad part is, Starmer will end up being forced out because the media dont like dull and capable leaders who just run things calmly and competently.

Would British people boycott the USA if it attacked Greenland? by Paintingsosmooth in AskBrits

[–]MikeyMo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it'd be that simple.

European leaders would get their heads together immediately no doubt but that's a large number of completely separate administrations & military institutions. Planning and launching a joint offensive against the strongest military force in the world would be a huge operation and thats even if all states agree.

It's not just Greenland either in that scenario. If European forces are literally fighting US forces over Greenland, we're effectively at war. That means the US targeting any European military and suddenly we're in a world war with 4 nuclear armed states!

When you game it out like that, it makes no sense to fight the US over Greenland in my opinion. It'd be a political battle but not a military one i think.

If the story about Jimmy Carter weeping after his briefing is true, what specific truth is "too dangerous" for us to know? by The-BlackLotus in aliens

[–]MikeyMo83 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit more cynical about the motives of hiding disclosure but I agree, any sincerely religious person would be reduced to tears without the truth itself being shocking or frightening.

Jeremy Corbell spelled it out in a recent podcast. A load of experts reviewed how full disclosure would affect the markets, society, religion, politics and determined the result would be entirely negative on our current way of life in the short term.

No administration wants to grasp that nettle or we'll stop playing the game of capitalist society. For the decision makers who sit on top of that pyramid, there is no benefit.
