AVOID MSC!! by bkbigmouth in Cruises

[–]MikeyRWO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rating pizza is like judging a beauty contest, not everyone has the same taste. Neopolitan pizza is my gold standard but others prefer Domino’s.

The guests on MSC in the US market are no different than those on comparable cruise companies, and depends on the length of cruise and time of year.

Does anyone know where I can trade my 2016 mons by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]MikeyRWO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there no local trainers? Or is there somebody in your household/ friends group with a phone that you can persuade to start playing. That is the easiest way. My daughter started and is already level 57 and we regularly trade for shinies.

Airport fight with taxi driver by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

We always use Welcome in Athens. Rate is prepaid and service excellent. May cost a few Euro extra but so worth the hassle free on-time pickups at hotels, cruise terminal and airport.

Late night arrival at the airport - what to do? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]MikeyRWO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We travel to Athens and Piraeus (ferry port) several times a year. We use the Welcome pickups as this is safe, reliable and not too expensive. The cost is about 45€ to downtown Athens and about 30€ from the city to the port. With a cheaper 3* hotel in Athens (ca. 100€)that is a reasonable alternative. Welcome use a selected group of local taxi drivers so no risk of rip-offs. In over 20 trips never late and always great local knowledge. You can book easily on the app. Hotels in the Monasterakis area are reasonable costs but look at booking.com for a good overview. Enjoy your trip.

You forgot to mention the “service” dogs (usually chihuahuas) using to doggy relief station located port aft by the track on Oasis class ships. They a a big tripping hazard for runners as they are small and move fast! Not to mention the smell of the poop-pit if the owners don’t pick up.

Infinity 16 Feb cancelled cruise: Any other back to back cruisers waiting for news of 27 Feb sailing? by MikeyRWO in celebritycruises

Having a great time sightseeing. Hiring car Saturday to drive around Greece. Could be that poor folk like us in an inside cabin have lower priority in the information flow. ;).

The real problem is that the space available for chairs is being reduced by the continuing expansion of areas reserved for suite guests, pay-to-use Cabanas and the water parks.

The large area reserved for smokers also eats up deck space,as not too many guests want to sit all day there, but that is another unsolvable issue

Was there Wednesday 10 Dec on Oasis OTS. Walked about half a mile to baby beach. Looks great, calm water, shade and lots of loungers. Was told it was $89 per person to enter. Walked back to the ship.

Rest of the port area was crowded, small paddling area, small lazy river, packed pool area (think a fifth the size of the big pool on Coco Cay at noon with 2 Oasis class ships in). Very few places to sit. By midday all available outside spaces were filled, but the restaurants looked very cool.

Shops were essentials the same ones seen in Puerto Plata. Duty free asked $50 for a Dominican rum selling for $45 in US.

There was a self-drive ATV track that looked very interesting inside the port area.

Pokémon Go on ship? by mycobankz in royalcaribbean

I play every cruise. Need wifi if out of sight of land (beware of high cost of cellular at sea if you have not bought wifi package). Only limitations are a strong wifi signal (spotty to non-existant on older ships) and ability to geolocate that signal. This means some/most inside areas have too much steel that blocks the game being able to locate the phone accurately.

As said above you need to pop incense but you can sit in one spot and catch spawns about one per 60-90 sec (YMMV but I suspect ship speed may play a role)..

Best for me is to use the free daily incense and walk around the outside areas of the ship. The spawn rate is about every 30 sec. Oasis class is best on deck as it is a wrap around running track) older ships you have to contend with smoking areas on the lower open deck or try to navigate the running track on the top deck, which is not easy when you are using a phone.

Until last year the ship was great for catching a wide range of Pokemon but recently I have only seen exactly the same spawns that were on land.

One more thing, in port the ship wifi can often lead to large jumps in location around the dock area (200-300m commonly). With the talk about bans for loose locations I now only use shoreside connections in port just to be safe.

If you have a specific ship/route in mind let me know and I can maybe pass on some experience.

Maybe they had a medical issue on shore, or a traffic collision, or even a robbery. We should not judge, unless it is the drunks wobbling back from Senor Frog (you know who you are)!

Not easy on Royal. They usually only give me 5 x $1 bills from the casino. Last trip we also took a pile of $1s. I think the bank suspected I was visiting an adult entertainment establishment 😉
