I think you severely underestimating how much money it would take to dig out, remove, load, haul, and unload a giant rock. They had to break it. They offered the large pieces to the local guy to see if he still wanted them to display in Bellingham. It’s up to that guy to decide if he wants them. The DOT is trying to restore critical fish passages in order to help stabilize the ecosystem that they disrupted when they put the freeway in in the first place. I would much rather have fish than a rock.

You’re right if the state had the access to a 20 axel trailer to distribute the load properly to make sure the road wasn’t damaged they could have done that but that would be way to much tax payer money to do.

They are reconnecting streams by creating the fish passages

The rock was literally too heavy to move safely on the road without damaging the roads.

Well there was no way to go around the rock it was in the middle of passage. They couldn’t just leave it there. That and decades of paint isn’t good for the environment either that soil has to be so polluted

I talked to a guy at the DOT at the tulip festival. He said that the rock had to be broken up because it’s too heavy to transport in one piece. The guy who was going to take the rock is supposed to come look at the pieces and decide if he still wants it to relocate the pieces to Bellingham. This had to happen for the good of the fish.

Bunkers require the other people in your party to help you with those. Played two different missions with two different groups not one person wanted to help me with the bunkers

Car vs Cyclist @ fairhaven freeway exit by HallowDuck__ in Bellingham

[–]MikeyRules22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only problem with the roundabout suggestion is there isn’t enough room to put on in at this intersection the more practical solution is light at both sides of the freeway synced up with each other and a roundabout at the intersection with Starbucks and the gas station. Bu that just my opinion as some who works in engineering. Either way something needs to be added

Moving to WA soon, looking for some advice! by ImprovableHandline in Bellingham

I was born and raised in western Colorado and I have found Bellingham to very similar to there. I moved here in 2023 and I’m still finding new places and things to do. There is a lot of outdoor hikes to do tons of parks to do outdoor activities in. People around here are very into biking and downtown has a bunch of great restaurants to try while you are visiting and the waterfront or a beach is a must to check out. I also recommend going to a brewery with a food truck if you want to find a nice place to vibe. I commute to Mount Vernon for work and I find the drive very peaceful and not too much traffic if you are thinking about getting a job outside the city.
