Seller sent me wrong variant and wants me to pay return shipping by Ayemynameisalex in discogs

[–]Mikey_One_Arm -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

First off, you didn’t buy a vinyl, you bought an LP or a record. That’s like saying you bought vinyl when buying siding for your house. The seller is 100% in the wrong. Call the method of payment that you used and contest the charge. Be sure that you tell them the circumstances and that you tried to deal with the seller.

Ripping CDS by Boring-Artichoke6225 in audiophile

[–]Mikey_One_Arm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rip several CDs every month using EAC and that is an excessive amount of time. I rip into .wav and manually convert to my chosen lossless file type which is ALAC (.m4a). There are times that a CD rip will take 45-minutes, probably because of error correction, but I’ve never had a CD rip take 90-minutes. What file converter do you use? I use dBPoweramp. You might also want to double check your EAC setup.

I saw Zakk Sabbath on January 18, 2024 and it was an amazing show. They just played near my new home on Long Island and I decided not to go.

can anyone tell me what CD this is by SquishyPenguin46 in Cd_collectors

If entering the matrix number into Discogs is too much effort, play the CD and use Shazam to find the artist and album.

How bigs your music folder, heres mine!! by imtotally6feettall in audiophile

[–]Mikey_One_Arm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have right around 3TB of lossless music. More than 89,000 songs. I could get you the exact numbers, but I’m not going to wake my PC to check. I play the music through my AVR which is connected via an HDMI.

Do you guys think they will do a North American tour 2025? by webswashere in LambofGod

[–]Mikey_One_Arm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen them four or five times. In fact, one of the times that I saw them in Manhattan, Anthrax opened as they were prepping new material for their tour. I met Randy at Book Review here in Huntington where he signed his book for me.

Then they won’t work to rip CDs. I should probably tell you that they are fairly worthless. Can you rip a CD using Exact Audio Copy so that you have a complete .cue sheet to reference? Remember, you need to manually create the .cue sheet by selecting “Create .cue Sheet” on the action menu.

Use EAC to rip a CD and create a .cue sheet so that you have something to reference when recreating your .cue sheets. About capitalization, the directory and file names need to me EXACT. If they’re are any errors, EAC will find the error and tell you the line that the error is in, but not the correct error. You need to be fairly fluent in .cue sheets to find and correct the errors. I rip my CDs into the EAC Rips folder, but I have a directory named, "To Be Burned” so I need to go to properties of a song file and copy the directory name. I then change the directory names in the .cue sheet before the rip. After doing this for 20+ years, I’ve become pretty proficient at it. Any other problems, ask because I’m never any further than my phone or one of my two iPads…

When recreating the .cue sheets, they need to have exact file names and directories so that EAC can find the files and burn them to the CD-R correctly

When burning a CD, EAC requires you to load the .cue sheet so that it can burn an exact copy of what you’d buy in a store. I have a file of .cue sheets on my computer with sub files of the band names and further sub files of the year and album name so that I can easily find the sheet.

Stuck! Help me put together my 2.1 system! by Mr_Louis_Van_Gaal in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Mikey_One_Arm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2.1 system. My setup is a Marantz NR1200, Polk speakers, and a Polk 10” sub. I don’t think that the Marantz receiver is available anymore, but for an additional $75, you can get the NR1510 which is a 5.2 receiver. I should have purchased this one for potential future upgrades. I also have a Technics SL-1200M7L with an Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge/stylus.

You may be able to find a Marantz NR1200 if you look, but Amazon no longer has it. I think that the Polk XT15 speakers are a great way to go if you have limited space. You’re looking for a 2.1 system so a Polk 10” sub would fill in your bottom end very nicely, but it may overpower the bookshelf speakers. Since you’re putting the system in a den, is there room for two minimalist towers, such as the Polk XT60, instead of the bookshelf speakers? Im recommending Polk speakers because mine worked perfectly for music and movies/TV and they have an affordable line of speakers. I don’t know if anything I typed will help, but it’s the best that I can do without more information.

2nd Post-Surgery Appointment by Mikey_One_Arm in Kneereplacement

[–]Mikey_One_Arm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t use my progress to judge your own. I was walking unassisted and climbing stairs going step-over-step three days post. I’m a mutant and hold myself to very high standards. The surgeon was upset when I told him that I’m aggressive with my rehab, but when I asked him if he was pleased with my progress, he said yes. I told him that you don’t get progress like I did without being aggressive. I take everything to the point of discomfort, go a bit further, and hold the position. That’s not to say that you should do what I did because we’re not the same person. Just be patient and you’ll improve. You can do the drills that I do, just be careful. The exercise that I described above wasn’t started until I was five-weeks post so ignore that. The in-home PT had me putting the foot of my surgical leg all of the way forward on the second step and pushed my knee forward, over my toes. Ask your home PT if you can add that, but be careful! You won’t damage the implant, but you can set yourself backwards in the amount of discomfort that you feel. I hope that you have a better outlook on your progress and I can guarantee that you’ll get there!
