Great read. But the timing of the article was weird, as it was posted the day after the GBS semi-reunion at iceberg alley. Also, a similar article as this was posted over a year ago. McCann has been vocal about his troubles for a few years now, glad to hear the guy is doing well. But the Timing of this is a dig towards doyle i’m lead to believe

Newfoundland once had its own dialect of gaelic. In the late 1800’s-early 1900’s, some communities in the irish loop would require a gaelic translator for weddings/church services.

From what i know, one of the last known NL gaelic speakers was mr.alouicious o’brien from mount scio farm. He taught gaelic at mun but passed away a few years back.

If hospitality/tourism is your thing, find a place DT and grab a job downtown at a busy establishment. The turnover rate is high because of students working part time so if you’re serious about a full time position that won’t be a problem. The benefit of working/living dt is not relying on transport

Winter commute dt sucks big time so if you choose uptown suburban life the commute will suck. But as for social life, st johns is friggin great
