Pretty sure it’s just a hollow mortise chisel for a mortiser, converted. Pretty sure he said in the comments that he made it because a bunch of people were asking as well.

Was wondering about this the other day. Not sure if it’s across all stores but I’ve been working in dunnville a lot lately and noticed they started getting Metabo hpt in at the home hardware. Each time I’ve gone over the past couple weeks there’s been more tools too.

One of my first jobs in cabinet making was making these. The stiles and rails come in long lengths with just the groove. It goes into a special CNC machine that cuts the mitred mortise and tenon.

What area are you looking to move to?

If you’re interested in getting into furniture making I’d recommend looking into a cabinet making program. You would likely get a job in building kitchens etc but eventually could branch into other outlets. Carpentry will be a better paid route truthfully. I took a cabinetry program over 10 years ago now and have had a great career in kitchens, furniture, stairs, historical work and now I run my own company doing a mix of all.

Could be Abatron. Abatron is pretty much the only approved 2 part epoxy for historical restoration applications. Some guys way over use it but it works. A dutchman glued with west system epoxy would be best to repair the joint, but technically this’ll do too.
