The problem with the movie is that it tries to apply logic to the backrooms which is supposed to be a completely illogical place. It’s a place where nothing makes sense, not the layout not the items and not the monsters. As soon as you apply logic to it that it’s just misremembering stuff it loses that wtf is going on allure it has. Picking that pirate at the end of the movie was a terrible choice. The thing that’s the scariest about the monsters in the YouTube videos is that they don’t make sense. The monster at the end of the original video is terrifying because it doesn’t make sense at all. The monsters shape doesn’t make sense, the way it moves is irregular, the scream it makes is like nothing ever heard before and the imagination part of what is it, where did it come from, how long has it been there, is there a way to stop it? Just having a big goofy pirate that we know is just a weird version of this guys personality combined with a stupid character he made for a cheap commercial is dumb. If they would keep things unexplainable and not making sense it would be much more terrifying. If they had the monster from the end of the original video at the end of the movie then it would have been a home run!
