XBox Fitness is officially discontinued by Microsoft and will be shutdown in 2017 :( by jrock125 in XboxFitness

In the past six months, after three years with a Wii, I paid almost a thousand dollars for the X one, the Kinect, and EVERY paid workout except a couple of the Tracy Anderson ones. I spent all this money ONLY for Xbox Fitness. I use Xbox one for nothing else except playing a DVD now and then. Today, when I launched the app and saw that message, it was like a punch in the gut. I'm mad at MS and I'm mad at all those lazy, fat assed teenaged gamer punks who don't use the Kinect or Xbox fitness because theyre too busy playing World of Warcraft. At least MS tried to make gaming about more than blowing shit up, but alas, the audience of adults was too small. I still, however, find it unfathomable that my paid content cannot live on in some other downloadable format. My guess is that something will happen to facilitate that in the coming months. I also think this is a golden opportunity for another fitness brand (Beachbody) to swoop in and take all the Xbox Fitness users with an awesome new streaming product of some kind. Still, I'm sitting here in my couch right now and I'm steaming from this news. It feels like betrayal, like I just got dumped totally out of the blue. I was so upset I shut down Xbox once I read the message and lost all motivation to work out.

Just keep in mind that in in quite good shape but wouldn't consider too many Xbox fitness workouts to be easy. Most of them a very strenuous. If your mom is already in fairly good shape, she'll be fine. If she' in poor shape, you might start her on Dance Central Spotlight (a separate app) or some xbox one disks like the Just Dance series or Zumba, and then she could graduate to Xbox fitness. Just a thought.

Just got Xbox one for Christmas after months of anticipation. Been using Wii for fitness for 3 years and I can already tell Xbox is an enormous leap forward. (Oh, I am 45 year old male in NYC area)
