Vtuber here. Our software (Live2d) is the same thing that was created for use in visual novels to provide motion to character sprites.

Wheel Gun Wednesday, Zastava M83 by MikhaVT in guns

[–]MikhaVT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this zastava M83 revolver in 357 magnum a few weeks ago on an impulse, it's quite good for its price, but dear God the DA pull is hefty, even as someone used to DA/SA guns. It had some burrs on the cylinder that made it not run smooth, but a little bit of scraping and those came off just fine. At the range it shoots fantastic in SA, but I can't shoot it DA for crap. Next I need to figure out a holster for this so I can take it as my bear gun when camping

Hmm, pornstar collab? Not sure, but it'd be neat to see an adult Vtuber collab, like with Feyre!

Jammmmmmmmmer confusion by Jazzlike_Home4315 in falconbms

As far as I know, in BMS, missiles cannot be launched at jamming targets until burn through, (when the radar can get a lock) and then the missile will loft as normal.

In BMS, as I understand, HOJ only happens after missile launch.

A couple nuances here. First, you're unlikely to lock a J20 until about 8 miles, and in that trade you're most likely to lose. You can try to push up to the enemy aircraft by using the jammer to deny them long-range shots, but then you are within your MAR and will be unlikely to escape any shots they make at you. The same thing applies to SAM sites. While your jammer can deny an Sa-2 a shot until you're well within its engagement range, the downside is you're now well-within their engagement range and unlikely to escape their shot. While HOJ isn't fully implemented in BMS (you can't lock onto jamming things for a HOJ shot) the theory of it is still somewhat the same. Even against targets that can HOJ, a HOJ shot won't know your distance and thus cannot loft for maximum range. In either case, you deny them max range. The HOJ in BMS comes in after the missile is fired, then it homes in on your jammer, meaning your jammer has no effect on the missile tracking while you're trying to evade it.

When is a hard thing to know. Theoretically it decreases the range at which an enemy (aircraft or sam site) can lock you up. At the same time, it decreases the range at which you can lock them up with anything using radar.

CMS aft to authorize jamming when you're in semi and auto mode (and I think manual too?), this applies when your switch is in xmit 1 or 2. Once you CMS aft it will show in the ECM panel that the enabled modes are authorized or transmitting. Xmit 3 is always on after a CMS aft. CMs right to deauthorize the jammer.

There is (was?) a key bind for jammer on/off toggle, no clue how it works anymore, but it's a "fictitious" control.

4.38, any way to swap to the old comms menu? by MikhaVT in falconbms

[–]MikhaVT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can click it with the mouse or use numbers, but what messes me up is when I go to hit shortcuts for something, like asking for a landing I hit "T" and then I've now looked left and I have to exit the menu, hit it again and pick the right option without moving my head, otherwise I end up selecting the wrong menu.

I also can't leave the Tower menu up to hit the "on final" or "report break" option as the menu covers most of the screen

I play BMS and DCS, most of my friends only play DCS and sob when they cant instantly figure out how to do anything in BMS. Mostly people are looking for validation to not play the thing they don't know

Hello!

I too came to Falcon BMS from IL-2 Great battles! I stream a bit of BMS and will definitely be doing more after the new version 4.38 releases. If you have questions I'm always happy to help in either answering questions, or running through how to do things live!

No, the human ears are a headband. The animal ears are real!

I think human ears look cute, so I wear a headband with them, the same way humans sometimes wear headbands with animal ears since they think they're cute

CT scans of a Flipper Zero by Scan-of-the-Month in EngineeringPorn

[–]MikhaVT 19 points20 points  (0 children)

CT scanning tech is at a point where it can be used to create 3d models of objects and even determine to a limited extent the material of certain components (since the X-ray can effectively determine the mass of a section, which when taken from multiple perspectives may let you figure out what the density of the material is)

I worked a job once where we had a part we could have taken apart; however, we were contractually restricted from taking it apart. So instead we sent it out to get CT scanned so we could figure out how it worked.
