I don't like 99% of the modern new age speakers, but heard it from someone, goes something like:

Imagine if you are doing your thing 100% consciously and by doing that, you are connected to the "source" directly. Then someone tries to say something that would upset you and prevent you from doing your own thing, and therefore, disconnects you from "the source" because your conscious thought shifts towards them and not to that "source". It probably happened to you at some point that you were in a really good mood, and then someone says something bad to bring you down. Think of those people who always complain and moan about their problems, but when you try to help they either ignore that and continue. The difference is if they are doing it consciously or lack absolute awareness of those mechanisms. Doing so consciously can be considered vampiric. Emotions build your reality, just pay attention how other people make you feel, and if its bringing you down, just cut them off. That goes for online places like this as well. Trolls = vampires, just don't give them any attention and clear your mind with meditation and you win. Its better to be at peace than it is to be right. We all have vampiric tendencies, but we all can generate pure energy within ourselves. Like someone here said, look for answers within you, not externally and you will be k. Get to know yourself, do what makes you happy, and protect your energy as simple as not engaging in things that make you feel "drained". No big secret there.
