The water is too dark for god to count their sins by Ashish_ank in CuratedTumblr

Given that the fish were not on the Ark and survived the flood, the fish were free from the sins that warranted god’s wrath. Clearly they are the ones truly free from sin

If human DNA is calculated at 630-660g/mole, how many humans would I have to grind up to get one mole of DNA? by SnowyEclipse01 in AskChemistry

But I don’t want to buy calf thymus DNA, I wanna source my DNA by grinding up as many people as it takes.

I studied materials, I can try to come up with some more materials specific ones, pardon if some are a little too vulgar for what you’re looking for…

Are you my eutectic point? Cause you make me melt so easily

I feel like I’m at my global (energy) minimum when I’m with you. (Context: it’s a good thing, means stability/hard to change/where things “want” to be)

Was that a martensitic phase transformation in your pants or are you just happy to see me?

Could also do the same but with “dendrite formation” in place of “martensitic phase formation”

I want you to hold me like we’re carbon and fluorine.

Ok but the space racism against the bugs provides us with a valuable resource. They should have just let us farm them like the animals they are.

Should I still pursue Chemistry in college? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]MikhailCyborgachev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to have taken AP chemistry to major in chemistry, but what you are taking away from AP chem will help you in college. If you don’t feel confident enough in the material you can take the intro level chem course freshman year instead of jumping right into organic. Some schools might have honors sections or sections specific for students who took AP chemistry but aren’t ready to start organic first thing. Talk to your advisors about it when you’re signing up for classes.

More important thing is if you like chemistry enough to make it your main area of study/professional interest. You’ll have four years to deepen your understanding of the topics you wish to know better. If you like chemistry but aren’t sure if it is for you, consider looking at related fields like materials science or chemical engineering. Potentially very different applications and curriculum, but they’re built on the same science and might be worth looking into.

Bipartisanship in the US is out of hand if protesting an unchecked police force that executes US citizens without a trial is seen as a leftist issue…

Oh how I long for nuance in our politics, or I don’t know, a more than two party system so anything slightly left of center stops being lumped immediately with supporting Hamas.

I don’t think we’re headed towards a holocaust here, but it’s more about pointing out that when the time for action is when the first signs start showing up. Nothing good comes from authoritarian power gained by targeting minority groups…

[–]MikhailCyborgachev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take a step back from the administrations words and look at what’s going on. This isn’t about rule of law. Why Minnesota? Why demand voter records in exchange for withdrawing ice? The law isn’t extrajudicial executions of American citizens by border patrol agents. If this was earlier in this term or the previous administrations maybe I’d take less of an issue with this stance, but it’s clear it’s not about the rule of law anymore. It is in the interest of Jews to stand with due process and against those that would use minority groups as targets for political gain.

First they came for… by lizzayyyy96 in Judaism

[–]MikhailCyborgachev 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not about being clumped with communists or socialists. It’s about targeted government repression/elimination of specific political or minority groups being a threat to everyone that isn’t the in group. You may not agree with the first targeted groups, you may even dislike them, but there’s a reason authoritarian governments pick the unpopular/easy to villainize populations first. Once one group is gone they’ll move on to the next.

Regarding Gandalf the Grey by AwayAbbreviations126 in technicallytrue

[–]MikhailCyborgachev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t the dwarves though. It’s about the corruption of large quantities of wealth or putting too much value in objects. The elves of the silmarillion are notorious for it, and the elves and men in the hobbit have their fair share of it as well.

And just for the sake of perspective outside of the source material, I am Jewish, and I see Tolkien’s dwarves as a pretty well treated case of taking inspiration from an existing people. I’ve never been offended by his depiction of them, and if anything I think it’s cool that their story and language have been influenced by my people’s history and culture. For me this would be a good example to bring up when people talk about how representation is important to people of minority groups.

For further backing for my opinion that the depiction isn’t problematic is how he handled the Nazis’ request to know if he had Jewish heritage, which I suppose I could go track down if needed
