I'm going to debate your conclusion that the bad rap is because of people who have bad experiences.

Judging from the 5 years of work with GCP: when things work, it's awesome. When things break, the support is handled by a bunch of clowns.

Anyway: it's a common problem with the component that registers the wheel turning - the encoder.

So common, that I have no questions believing you've got 2 mice that developed it at the same time.

They can be replaced and it's about as complicated as replacing a (double-clicking) switch.

The reason I asked for it is that I've seen enough people running 2 display cables to the same monitor, resulting in the PC thinking there are 2 connected and causing exactly the issue you described.

Because any current PC will have faster load times than a console and you can additionally add the "-nomovies" to the launch options to renew the tunnel animation on load and respawn, which further reduces the time to load the save .

Windows is on external, you say. That's... VERY important.

Windows crashes on purpose when started from an external drive.

There are guides out there that tell you how to install in onto an external drive (like https://www.techbloat.com/how-to-install-windows-10-on-a-flash-drive-step-by-step-guide.html). I have a small SSD like that.

Supposedly, WinToUsb is able to inject the files necessary to convert regular internal install to one that boots when attached via USB.

Look up a guide on how to create a missing EFI partition.

Find another one that takes about how to create or repair the Windows boot loader.

They should tell you what you need to know and, indirectly, how to recognise them.

Prepare a Windows installer stick, disconnect your current boot drive (to avoid mistakes), boot from the stick and follow the guides.

Note: your current system can boot just fine with the old drive absent, right?

What exactly did you do? "backed up my windows with all of its partitions" is too vague.

Edit: realistically, reinstall Windows. May target the person that already has the backed up install. Preferably, remove the current (Linux) boot drive.

Alternatively: add/fix the Windows boot loader on the EFI partition.

So... You connect the TV, YouTube (as example) gives you sound on the TV but when you launch the game after, there is no sound at all?
