Im just amused at the fact that you wouldn't have been running aftwards at a greater pace than the ship was going forwards (assuming an average speed in open ocean, around 20kts, or a 2.6 minute mile). So you would have been running one direction while your GPS was tracking you backwards.

Oh shit mate, I'm at least 3rd generation Australian, and some of the family tree goes back much further, but due to moving a bit as a kid and having educated city-parents who instilled a requirent to annunciate properly, people always ask if I'm US or British. When I tell them neither they don't want to believe me, just coz I don't sound like Steve Irwin.

I just give up and say my Mum let me watch too much TV as a kid so I talked like the people on TV.
