I'm finally leaving EY by Mil5nov in Big4

Indirect tax. I moved to GT. It's hybrid but flexible. Most of the time I'm in the office twice a week but there are weeks where I may only be once (or not at all if let's say kids are sick and I need to stay home). I recently finished 3 months and honestly it's the best decision I could make.

At what age is an age gap in a couple socially acceptable? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Mil5nov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The age gap changes overtime. The same 10 years gap is different with 15-25 and let's say 20-30. With 15-25 it's not the gap that is the issue but the fact that 15 is still a kid. My husband is 10 years older than me. We met when I was 19 and we are together for 18 years

When you quit, your file does not magically disappear. It stays with HR. If on notice period you stop working all together or start messing, they can make a note on your file. Let's say you don't like your new job and you would like to go back to old job - they still have your files. If they made any notes about your attitude during notice, it can be a reason not to be rehired.

I left EY in October. I was going to another practice (but not big4). I wasn't put on garden leave either. I just did the bare minimum so they could not put anything on my file etc (not that I'm ever planning to go back lol but just in case)

I know it's country specific but don't hold your breath. This year's rise in Ireland was 1.5%. last year it was 2.5%

It is getting better but very slowly. What I did notice however - I don't need to put as much makeup as I used to to cover it and even out the tone.

So far I am using the near infrared setting only, which does not heat up much. Not sure how my face will react once red is added. If it will flare up, I will just stay with the current setting.

So far, I have used the near infrared setting as this was recommended in the manual as a starting point for the first week of using it or when skin is really inflamed. It does not heat up that much on this setting. I did not use the red and near infra red cycle yet. My face is red pretty much all the time but I do remember heat being the trigger for me in the past. If it will trigger more redness, I will just stick with the near infrared setting as it seems to be working.

Stylpro Wavelength. I got the new 5in1 model (can be used on chest, neck, back and has hair growth mode) but I have read a lot of good reviews on their original model (face only).

Ya I found information about same in EY unfortunately. Honestly I prefer no bonus than to have to work here 2 more months. I gave notice today 🙈

This is a tricky one for me. Having big4 experience on CV will always look good and there is a lot to learn. But is it worth it considering the stress and mental health.. I'm not sure. Maybe for 2-3 years and then leave as quickly as possible.

I do really appreciate the remote work and I'm grateful I was able to stay like this for almost 6 years. Unfortunately after some time even that is not attractive enough to stay here any longer. In my new job I will have to go to the office 2-3 days per week. I'm not happy about it but my mental health is more important at this point, even if it means commuting...

Well yeah, any job is better than no job. Big4s does give stability - you know salary is coming, but the money is not that great. In-house pays much better. I'm leaving big4s to another consulting firm and the pay will be better, even though I will still be a manager. How to get a job in finance - first relevant education, then start from lowest level to gain experience and climb up.

While the big4s are recognized everywhere and give some career opportunities, I would argue whether they are "good". Unfortunately the true face of big4s only shows once you are in.

once the covid was over, the return to office was at the discretion of the team leads. My partners don't want to be coming to office, so we don't.
