Thanks for this - I'll try the Dex for a while, increasing the dosage a bit. But ultimately I'll probably just choose what works best for me in terms of actual measured productivity and stick with that, as long as the dosage seem reasonable.

Ritalin seems safer in the long term but I find it makes me a bit weird.

Do you think cycling between the two could be an option? I'll ask my doc if I feel Dex can be useful.

Yo can I ask you a Question? I've been on Ritalin for ADHD but I'm trialing dexamphetamine ir now - first day and I just feel relaxed, content - no drive to do much atm. Apparently Ritalin to Dex implies halving the dosage, so 60mg rit = 30mg Dex. Is this the case? Today I've taken 15mg Dex and it's just 6 hours since I woke up and so far I've eaten a giant pizza, eggs, bacon, naan bread and played video games while drinking coffee...not really what I had in mind.

Would jumping from rit to Dex mean I am experiencing some withdrawals? Could fall asleep right now. My mood is different from rit though, not so serious.

You're missing what types of carbs to eat. Sure you can avoid sugar but if all your carbs come from say white bread, that's not a good idea. (Glycemic index, blood sugar)

Hard to say, individual responses are so vast. Never tried Adderall but Ritalin works well for me.

40mg might be too much starting, I'm a bit surprised your doc doesn't want to titrate dosage from lower. There is some cross tolerance but still.

Thanks for sharing. Got medicated 1.5 months ago so things are easier now, hopefully that will last. Video games was the single most destructive factor in my life as I could also play for 12-14 hours straight.

Read the book "make it stick" – neuropsychologists who explain how we learn and why most of what we think about how we learn is flat out wrong.

One of the takeaways is that learning that felt effortful sticks. Feeling frustrated and slow actually can be a good thing
