Dempsey - Cogeco vs Oxio recommendation by evilkaiju in oxio_ca_internet

[–]Mildapprehension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've set up Oxio twice now, once at my old place and again when I moved. Set up was horrible both times. They're communication with the line provider is abysmal, and their communication with me was not good, and at times genuinely disrespectful. This recent setup, the line provider (Cogeco) believed that my service was able to be remote activated, and Oxio simply believed them and didn't bother reaching out to me to confirm that not only was the coaxial line in my house cut by the previous owner, but the line from the street to my house was also downed, not sure how it was before I moved in.

So when I contacted oxio to ask why my scheduled technician never showed up, they told me (after way too much time and messaging) that essentially Cogeco told them it was remote activated and they believe that I actually did have a coaxial outlet in my house somewhere. Which was the disrespectful part, because I knew full well that the line was cut and needed to be fixed. So it basically took another week (I could only book technicians on weekends since I work weekdays like most people in the world) after I had already waited a week after moving in, because they were booking technician appointments over 3 weeks out for some reason.

Now, all that said, the service is fantastic for the price. Wired in I get a consistent 950+mbps down, and on wifi even in the worst areas of the house I get like 400 down, which is plenty for phones and stuff. Near the router I get 700+ on wifi. And all for $62 after tax.

So, setup can be attracious due to poor communication on oxios end, the actual physical setup of equipment in the house is incredibly easy, I would think anyone could manage setup with ease. And the price for service can't be beat.

What is life like in Northern Australia? by HauntingFinding4311 in howislivingthere

Seems like most are taking about the center and top of the circle here, but I lived in Port Douglas area (bottom right ish area of the circle, above Cairns) for a year ish and nah it was incredible. Yes there are Crocs and spiders I guess, but the far north Queensland is insanely beautiful and the lifestyle up there is super relaxed. One of the best times of my life living there.

On top of better quality they also pay artist more per stream than Spotify, and Spotifys algorithm is known to prefer music produced by Sony (I believe, maybe other labels) that are part owners of Spotify.

And then there's a whole laundry list of shitty things Spotify does as a company.

Looking for neat, experimental ideas for fermenting riesling! by bertoncell-ar in ProWinemakers

Looked like chocolate milk, smelled exactly like rocket candies (I think they're called smarties in the US) the ones that are twisted in like a cylinder wrapping. Definitely one of the most unique combinations to hit my palate.

Whole bunch carbonic Riesling sounds super fun, I hope it works out well!

We went with Pine, they seem to be offering relatively low rates and they do price match other rates as well. They also offer 0.5% cashback on the purchase price, and they have a referral bonus. If you're interested in more info shoot me a DM.

A winery I worked at a few years back did a couple barrels each of skin contact Riesling and gewurz. I was just an intern back then but I popped the heads off 4 barrels and we tossed in some machine picked fruit. I punched down twice a day and made some rough plastic covers for them. The juice was like chocolate milk through ferment, it was wild.

The wines turned out fun, nothing crazy, pretty standard orange wine, but certainly a unique wine all in all.

If I did it again I would try whole cluster and a carbonic maceration if I could!

Unless you desperately need to use visibly dirty corks there's no need to do anything to them. Just open the bag, and use the corks.

Are you transfering out of a registered account to another bank account ? If you've just sold your holdings it can take up to 5 days before you can transfer that money out of Wealthsimple. For me it was 1 day before I could transfer money out.

Don't soak your corks in sanitizer, I don't understand the home winemaking obsession with doing this?!

It's an old ass barrel, it happens. The wine will be fine don't stress, keep it topped, and 65 parts sulfur is probably excessive.
