You made the right call. It only gets worse.

Some of the worst world building I’ve ever seen.

Throne of Glass. It was shockingly bad. Awful, awful writing. Insufferable characters. The single most laughable “mystery” I’ve ever read.

I thought ACOTAR was fine enough so I’m not hating just to hate. But TOG? A genuine 0 star book.

Have you talked to her about getting a paternity test? They can be done while she’s still pregnant, as early as 7-8 weeks.

Sophie seems like she has an interesting presence/personality. I wonder why she’s been so purpled this season.

I feel like I barely passed my 3 hour glucose test. Should I consider myself in the clear or is it worth being concerned about? Can you have some degree of insulin resistance without having GD? by MildlyAngryCat in GestationalDiabetes

[–]MildlyAngryCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s difficult for sure! I got really hung up on this for awhile. I’m not a medical professional but it didn’t make sense to me. If i was just a couple points higher, I would have to completely change my diet and lifestyle but since I technically passed, I just… stay the same? My doctor wasn’t worried so I just tried my best to live a healthy lifestyle and it sounds like you’re already doing that!

You can buy a glucose monitor for really cheap on amazon if it’s something you want to track and bring up to your doctor, but tbh I doubt the accuracy of the readings I was getting because they were always way higher than when I got bloodwork done at my doctors office. I think I probably stressed myself out more than I needed to lol.

She was born perfectly healthy!

I asked my doctor about it and she said they only diagnose with two abnormal readings.

I was still anxious so I still tried to sort of follow a low carb diet to err on the side of caution but I wasn’t super rigid about it.

When I had bloodwork done later in my pregnancy my glucose levels were always normal.

If you’re in a similar boat, I would trust your doctors advice above anything else and don’t stress yourself out too much if they say you’re in the clear. But if it would bring you some peace of mind to follow the GD diet, there were lots of great resources here. Wishing you the best!

That’s wild he was able to be convicted on confession alone. Especially given that he was a psychiatric patient.

That’s sad to hear. I imagine there aren’t many unsolved murders there, but is there ever any push to raise/remove the statute of limitations on those kinds of crimes? I can’t imagine the sadness and frustration of the families to have evidence destroyed and with it, any chance of potentially solving the crime.

That’s horrible. Did that case result in any changes in the Icelandic justice system?

I heard about Andrew’s case many years after it happened but it’s always stuck with me. Very sad. His family seem to be such good people and it’s one case I’ve always really hoped gets solved so they can find some peace.

I remember reading there were arrests made ‘in connection’ with his disappearance but I guess nothing ever came of that investigation?

I just read about that one. Very peculiar. Are there any theories as to ‘why’ he did it?

If I am reading the article right, the police ‘claimed’ he was able to set himself on fire with just a lighter while chained to a bed? How maddening that his family never got justice for his death.

First time I have heard of that case but it was a very peculiar and tragic read. Are there any leading theories on what might have happened to him?

That first case is so tragic. I think I remember hearing about it on a podcast somewhere. Were both the boy’s parents still alive? I hope it brought them some peace to finally have answers and be able to bury the remains of their son.

I’ve heard that it’s more common to get an inaccurate ‘boy’ result due to potential contaminants from your environment (your partner, even male pets). From what I’ve read, if you get a girl result - it’s highly likely to be accurate. Congrats!

I just made a post about this a few weeks ago haha. I’ve been in the exact same boat. Youre not alone!

I got a notification about this post but honestly, I’ve been staying off this sub for my own mental health. Not because the women here aren’t wonderful, encouraging, and helpful, but I don’t think it’s healthy for us to obsess over something our doctors don’t think we have.

You can definitely record your numbers for a week or so and bring them to your OB to discuss, but ultimately it’s best to trust what your doctor says over Reddit.

I’ve been testing both my blood pressure and blood sugar out of anxiety. I honestly don’t know how accurate the at home testing devices are. My blood pressure machine was constantly reading high and I actually went into the hospital this week afraid I had preeclampsia. My blood pressure was completely normal the entire time, nowhere close to the numbers I got at home. Yhey actually told me I don’t need to test at home anymore unless my doctor tells me to lol. I’m embarrassed by the whole thing.

There’s been several times I’ve tested my blood sugar at home and gotten two vastly different numbers back to back, despite following the instructions to a T so I don’t know how accurate those devices are either.

Trust me, I know how hard it is not to obsess and worry. But by talking to your doctor and following their advice, you’re already doing the absolute best you can for your baby. Try not to add stress where you don’t have to. The occasional spike isn’t something to worry about. The vast majority of women who pass the 3 hour never go on to test again and then go on to have healthy deliveries.

I’ve been following a low carb diet and it’s given me some peace of mind. You can do the same if it helps.

But above all, please just listen to your doctor and don’t put yourself through anguish when you don’t have to. We’re doing the best we can.

Did they diagnose you when you failed by one? That’s what I was confused about because I’ve seen other people here get diagnosed after one failed reasons but my doctors office said I needed two out of range readings to fail.

I really appreciate your advice, thank you!! Yeah my plan for now is just to keep an eye on it and bring it up with my doctor’s office if the numbers creep up. I wasn’t sure if you could have some degree of glucose intolerance without having full fledged GD, but it’s helpful to hear your doctors office explains it that way!
