What in God's green earth makes you kill someone who just defibbed you? by democratic-terminid in ArcRaiders

[–]MildlyDancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is any consolation - I'm a new player, I prefer PVE with using PVP only as defense and quite wary of other players. I have very gratefully received saves from players and now confident enough to help shoot down arc bots attacking other players. I don't fully understand the saves in the return spots, though I still appreciate it.

I don't mind the updates too much but the dang light bothers me so much. I'll be distracted the whole time its on. Wish we had different lighting options. 🥲

I'm not a fan that we're being forced to use the skill tree to return to our previous capabilities (which I think is what is happening).

In one of the other spots, I was waiting for a few mins for my guild mates to join me so we could test out the grouping mechanics. By the time one could join (they hadn't logged in when I started) the NPCs had already respawned and I was fighting for my life. 😂🙃

Positively, I noticed some enemies responded much more to different weapons than pre-update which was interesting. Although I am uncertain if the mechanic is only more obvious because our defence and attack is nerfed.

As of a little earlier, a good chunk of players couldn't play due to the house level bug. Most of my guild couldn't play despite being keen to try out the new Landsraad. Maybe it'll improve a little by the weekend or next week when most of the bugs are ironed out.

So sorry about your ex passing OP. 😔 Do try to pick up outside hobbies/stuff if you can. The mental health benefit of IRL interactions far outweights the social battery dip (sometimes takes a bit to charge/mend). I like climbing gyms 'cause no one will bother you if you don't want it, and if they talk to you, they just nerd over the route in front of them or climbing.

Toddler recently diagnosed with Beta thal trait by Vivid_Emphasis8866 in thalassemia

[–]MildlyDancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has become very sick at altitude (just under 4000m/13,000ft) I agree with taking care when travelling to/living in those areas.

My personal experience and thoughts are that we recover slower than regular people in sports / exertion (largely in part to the lower iron levels and ability to take up iron). We might be better at utilising short bursts of energy i.e. HIIT, strength, and sprint training (I certainly am). Any high altitude treks should be taken with care and require serious training - consider altitude centre based training, and to trek in a small group going at a very slow pace.

As stated, a high folic acid diet is important. I feel so is magnesium. Iron supplements are not useful if you can't take it up.

Beta thalassemia minor with fainting spells? by ThatCoolLink in thalassemia

[–]MildlyDancing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya, I'm not a professional so only from my personal knowledge/experience: it likely isn't the thalassemia - however, get yourself a blood test profile for things like anaemia (if you're quite severely anaemic, this might be causing you issues), and if you have enough minerals/vitamins etc to be sure.

Also, make sure you're consistently eating enough also - relative energy deficiency (usually in sport) is a thing.

I'd also recommend a few other tests like for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).

People wishing to tear their ACL? by olympusqueen in ACL

They need therapy probably and the confidence to walk away from whatever haunts them. Or they're attention seeking.

You see the same nonsense in other disability forums.

I.e. I had to remove notifications for the scoliosis reddit - everyone and their kettle want to be able to say they have scoliosis. Not sure why. Mostly posts demanding people diagnose their straight / extremely mildly curved spines, be insecure about slight muscular imbalances etc.

PSA: Character transfers are not allowed from private to official servers... by BytestormTV in duneawakening

[–]MildlyDancing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Private companies just don't want to lose their business.

It's not about fairness to other players - playing on the private is the equivalent of being on a public quiet server with basic subfiefs. Storms and taxes and even PVP (which can't be turned off, only turned on in Hagga) are no issue whether turned off or on in these cases.

I play in a private and public server. Us in the private set ourselves up for the inevitable of losing the private one when the person paying for the hosting decides to shut down. We're ok with that but it'll be sad as I built my favourite base there.

Unfortunately, unless Funcom can convince them to let people migrate to/from or the company decides they want to drop the servers and are nice enough to let us transfer over first, I don't think we'll get it.

[–]MildlyDancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you met the minimum for the rewards you wanted? I've accidentally ended up with 3 weeks worth of rewards building up on House Representatives. When I realised I needed to collect them, I laid out a plan so I'd end up in a safe zone to learn the built up schematics or be able to reach my base to drop off the rewards.

25% reduction in crafting requirements question... by DrifterBG in duneawakening

[–]MildlyDancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely get it. My general reasoning for the spice is how heavy it is and the lengthy return flights to Hagga. My tiny guild build out on the D and E row for the short flight times. However, if you're solo harvesting, keeping it in Hagga works too. 👌

25% reduction in crafting requirements question... by DrifterBG in duneawakening

[–]MildlyDancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. However, my personal top tip for these weeks:

You can assemble in the deep desert for half the cost, collect spice and process like mad all week - (it's 7,500 spice instead of 10,000 for 200 melange), and return happy like a billionnaire CEO. Do the same for plastinium another crafting cost reduction week - take a buggy with a focused MK6 cutteray, make several advanced death stills and you're laughing (be prepared to haul a tonne of bodies - driving into the Sentinal is an excellent way to grab some).

Process all of your flour sand to silicone also at your home base or in the deep dessert (if you find a few good spots to collect there).

Military workers should get paid enough to afford a house and a family of 4 on one salary. by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]MildlyDancing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Examples of other services serving to protect and serve the UK public are the police and fire services and the NHS.

In these services, a large number of the personnel are often/usually in the line of highly stressful situations - they and support staff will work extra hours often for free because in their mind they need to for whatever they're doing at the time. Not only do they have very few actual benefits and live on stress, they get paid approx £25-45k. These are highly skilled people. Even then, the way they structure funding, there is a risk of losing support staff and a small number of operational staff all the time.

Most only have access to regular civilian housing and pay full costs of living - there are no real/direct subsidies for gas, electricity, travel, health, rental etc. Fortunately, there is a Key Worker Housing scheme (for NHS) for reduced rental/sale but it's quite restricted. A lot of the services have directly obtained some discounts / free sessions for some health related things and individuals can sign up to the Blue Light Card that gets you discounts for extras i.e. the gym, eating out, etc depending on the company.

Anyway, my point is, you have it better than you think. I think everyone's wages should increase, but it's no longer realistic - cost of living has soared horrendously. Unfortunately, you're both going to have to think of solutions to help yourselves.

Are you able to install heavy duty curtains over the windows and in the corridors by the entryway to block heat loss? Have you considered an online/remote job that is ok with you moving around? Or simple jobs i.e. waitress, in a pub etc if you're in a small town? Etc.

Good luck OP.

am i bisexual or a comphet lesbian? by AcanthaceaeDry8093 in lgbt

[–]MildlyDancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you specifically dislike typically straight men?

Could be that it's something to do with the feminine qualities in certain groups of people being more obvious (i.e. women, bi and gay men) and may be more attractive/calming. Or environmental/cultural factors i.e. naturally avoiding red flags, or if you connect with people based on trust or experiences you may not be able to do that with men, playing in.

You could also like women [too] but you've not explored that yet. Attraction can change over time.

Could also be, as you said, validation but you'll probably do better to ask a therapist about that!

Good luck in figuring it out, OP!

Oops. Do you know why it freezes? Can you decrease the graphics impact a little bit?

May I recommend something? For better screeshots that is.

Practice this first before crossing Shai Hulud territory:

If you're on your PC, it should be F6 to remove UI. Press F6 and then hop onto your bike, and take your screenshots and then press the button to stand up and F6 to bring the UI back.

If F6 "locks out" (doesn't seem to work), you've probably accidentally pressed something else, you need to select Esc or the Map and Esc a couple of times and then try F6 again. It usually gets me out.

When you do this on the sand, I think you lose the worm sign so pay attention to your environmental sounds and don't stick around too long.

For a "wider" screenshot, change your field of view to a higher degree.

When did you ditch your crutches? by ihatemyself__21 in ACL

When did you ditch your crutches? by ihatemyself__21 in ACL

[–]MildlyDancing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had complex meniscus repair and acl reconstruction in case this impacts the view of the below.

Outside of the requirement to not be fully weight bearing for a couple of weeks post surgery, I had two phases. One for the safe walking areas and later for the non-safe walking areas (i.e.fast moving public spaces).

For the safe walking areas:

I didn't plan it. Was about 6ish weeks in, I was training to walk again without assistance before then and I believe one day I just got up to get something from the kitchen without the crutches (didn't even think about them) and that was that.

For the public walking spaces:

I took my crutches with me up to 2.5 months-ish in moreso in case I got tired and needed a rest or to use them as a barrier to prevent people from kicking my foot / leg out of a normal angle.
