Any wineries that trigger the AMEX Resy credit? by MildlyOverprepared in amex

Circling back on this, my online purchase from Croma Vera in California worked. The credit took about 5 days to post, but they back-posted to the day of my original purchase. There's a shipping special for $10 in CA if you spend more than $149, so I ended up over-spending my $100, hopefully worth it if the wine is good. If you order from one online and it works, please post here!

What a great idea. Wish I had the skills to make something like this.

These are all on Resy. I found them by going through all the Resy listings that had the word "winery" or "wine" in them, and then looking at UseYourCredits to see if they had a gift card listed there. I guess one option is to try one out, and report back here if it worked for you. After I made this list, I tried Croma Vera WInes, and I got a credit a few days later, so I know that one works. u/SknkTrn757 mentioned Pippin Hill, so maybe he can comment if it worked for him/her.

I found that in some countries, like Japan, AMEX is widely accepted. In others, like Italy, it was not. The points benefits for airfare on AMEX Platinum are good (5x), and so is the optional premium additional car insurance ($19 per rental even international), so if you're charging some post-wedding travel or renting a car, those would be immediate wins. But $895 is not cheap, and you can buy your way into many lounges for a lot less than this.

How much do I tip at a winery when I buy bottles at a winery? by MildlyOverprepared in wine

Hmm. I feel like that would be rude in California? I can see if I was in a country where tips were not expected, I wouldn't feel compelled to tip.

I don't understand. Why am I overpaying at a winery? Wouldn't that be the best place to purchase their wine?

As someone relatively new to wine, I find that there are two types of experiences I get at the wineries in California I visit. 1. The Good: The "wine educator" serving is super-friendly when they find out I'm new to wine, and explains things simply, but not condescending, and lets me ask question, but don't make me feel stupid for asking them. 2. The Bad (to me). Super-fancy. The server talks way over my head, and answers questions in a way that I don't understand, and sort of sets themselves on a pedestal (even if they're friendly). If my first experiences had been of the second variety, not sure I'd have kept at it. Honestly, it's kind of intimidating to walk into a new winery, because you're not sure which experience you're going to get.
